Job Summary

The Sr. Quality Inspector / Technician is responsible for conducting incoming inspections and ensuring the manufacturing in-process quality and final quality of products. This role involves conducting audits, inspections, and quality data reviews to maintain and improve product standards. The Sr. Quality Inspector / Technician will coordinate quality activities related to Engineering, Manufacturing, and other functions, assisting with the implementation of Quality Control requirements, including AS9100 and ISO9001 quality systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducting audits and inspections and recommend corrective actions or improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate and provide guidance to assemblers and testers in their performance to our quality procedures and adherence to standards
  • Contribute to RCCA, MRB and non-conformance disposition efforts
  • Interfacing with program management, engineering, manufacturing and quality management
  • Ability to coordinate and work with multiple program and operations teams
  • Support Packing and Shipping
  • Identify, write up and report on non-conformances
  • Support Quality Engineers in ensuring products and services meet company standards and end-user requirements by assisting in the analysis and resolution of product conformance problems.
  • Perform inspections on electromechanical assemblies. Assist in interpreting manufacturing drawings, specifications, and lists to approve or reject units.
  • Assist in performing quality planning tasks to ensure product conformance to requirements.
  • Support the training of inspectors and assist with product and manufacturing process audits to support quality assurance objectives.
  • Assist in evaluating defect data to identify trends and collaborate with Quality Engineers to recommend process improvements.
  • Support kaizen events, help to summarize outcomes, and make recommendations to management based on sound decision factors and business principles.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining procedures and work instructions relevant to the quality organization.

REQUIRED CAPABILITIES

  • U.S. Citizenship required due to government contract requirements
  • Written and verbal communication skills to allow effective communication with both technical and non-technical teams
  • Knowledgeable in MS Office tools: Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Critical thinking, analytical, able to draw conclusions quickly, open to new ideas, take on new responsibilities, handle pressure, and adjust plans and priorities to changing needs.
  • Skilled in using basic metrology tools and G&D tolerancing
  • QMS and ISO Audit Preparation experience
  • Experience with Part Specification; Identification Marking, Packaging
  • Experience with wiring harness specifications & requirements.
  • Knowledgeable of Statistical Process Control techniques and statistics.
  • Proficient knowledge of IPC-610 and IPC-620 standards
  • Proficient knowledge of ISO9001 and AS9100 Standards
  • Proficient in development of manufacturing flow processes and developing sampling plans, inspection procedures, and workmanship criteria.
  • Ability to work additional hours, evening and weekends, to meet customer commitments

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma, AS preferred
  • 10+ years’ experience in Manufacturing Operations of electronic and optical assemblies.
  • 8+ years’ experience in a DoD manufacturing environment preferred
  • 8+ years’ experience conducting visual inspections
  • 5+ years’ experience in a 5-S, Lean Six Sigma work environments
