TITLE OF DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Director of Warehouse Operations

STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Thursday, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm, and Friday, 6:30 am – 12 pm

WORKSITE: 388 Upper Oakwood Ave., Elmira, NY 14903

WORK FROM HOME: Not Eligible

Salary: $19.44 an hour

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

The Dry Goods Fulfillment Associate is responsible for performing various warehouse duties, including product handling, inventory management, processing, receiving, disposal, replenishment, general maintenance, and operating warehouse equipment while providing support and backup for other warehouse positions as needed. As an Operations team member, this position ensures food and workplace safety, maintains cleanliness, and complies with the Food Bank of the Southern Tiers' safety and food defense programs. Additionally, this candidate must be alert and detail-oriented, follow instructions closely, and thrive in a fast-paced, changing, and flexible work environment.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Order Fulfillment and Inventory Management

  • Accurately pick and fulfill all assigned orders, promptly reporting any challenges to the Director of Warehouse Operations.
  • Assemble partial pallets and store mixed pallets as needed.
  • Place product in designated storage racks.
  • Securely wrap completed pallets and stage them for loading or load them directly onto trucks when ready.
  • Participation in inventory cycle counts as directed.
  • Assists with pallets and baled cardboard storage and disposal.
  • Disposes of product as directed by the Director of Warehouse Operations.

Equipment Operation

  • Safely operates forklift, hand truck, manual/electric jack, pallet wrapping machine, compactors, and other designated equipment.
  • Adheres to FBST policies and OSHA regulations while operating equipment.
  • Loads and unloads pallets to and from trailers and vehicles and operates dock lifts safely.
  • Operates Food Bank Vehicles (Non-CDL) as needed.
  • Conducts pre-shift warehouse equipment inspections and reports any issues to the Director of Warehouse Operations.

Safety and Compliance

  • Works in cooler and freezer environments for short periods as needed (PPE provided).
  • Completes and passes annual Food Safety Training.
  • Follows all established instructions, processes, and procedures.
  • Upholds a personal commitment to safety by adhering to all safety policies, health rules, programs, and procedures, promptly reporting any unsafe acts, environments, or behaviors, and immediately addressing safety concerns, incidents, or accidents.

Warehouse Maintenance

  • Maintains cleanliness in the work area according to the Master Cleaning Schedule or as directed.
  • Helps maintain clean and debris-free rack locations, including handling product spillage, pallet fragments, empty pallets, and waste materials such as cardboard and plastic wrap.
  • Contributes to maintaining a clean and safe warehouse environment.
  • Participates in warehouse inspections.

General

  • Collaborates with team members in a cooperative and supportive way, providing assistance and backup coverage for other warehouse roles as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • One (1) year of warehouse or product distribution experience with forklift operation.
  • Certified forklift operator.
  • Must have basic math skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Regularly able to lift, carry, or move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must pass alcohol and drug testing.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Certification in ServSafe is required and must be obtained within 90 days of hiring at the employer's expense.

  • Able to learn sanitary food storage and handling guidelines and practices.
  • Adheres to strict confidentiality in handling written and verbal information, demonstrating professionalism and integrity in all interactions.

  • Demonstrate ethical business practices in conformance with all state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Adhere to all federal and state laws while operating the Food Bank's motor vehicles.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a driving record considered acceptable by the agency and insurance carrier.
  • Demonstrate full adherence to the Code of Conduct and all policies/procedures related to compliance.
  • Adheres to all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, including but not limited to those governing confidentiality, privacy, program, billing, and documentation standards. All duties must be performed in accordance with CCDR's corporate compliance and ethics program.

Ability to meet the following physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Use hands to manipulate, handle, feel, and control items or equipment, including motor vehicles.
  • Stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach.
  • Climb up or down stairs.
  • Able to reach above or below shoulders.
