This role sits at the intersection of healthcare data, interoperability standards, and business intelligence, enabling seamless data exchange across complex payer, provider, and third-party ecosystems. You will translate business needs into precise technical and data requirements that support scalable, compliant integration solutions. Working remotely in a highly collaborative environment, you will engage with stakeholders across clinical, financial, and technical domains. The role involves deep analysis of large, multi-source healthcare datasets to uncover insights, ensure data integrity, and support decision-making. You will play a key part in shaping interoperability workflows aligned with regulatory standards such as HIPAA, CMS, and ONC. This is a high-impact position where analytical rigor directly supports better-connected healthcare systems and improved data-driven outcomes.
- Analyze healthcare business and data needs related to interoperability workflows, ensuring accurate and efficient data exchange across systems and stakeholders.
- Work with large and complex healthcare datasets (claims, member, provider, clinical, enrollment, financial) to assess structure, relationships, consistency, and quality.
- Define, document, and validate functional and technical requirements for healthcare data interfaces using standards such as HL7, FHIR, X12, and C-CDA.
- Lead discovery and integration workshops with payers, providers, and internal teams to define mappings, specifications, and system requirements.
- Identify and resolve data integrity issues, including missing values, duplication, and inconsistent or “bad” data patterns.
- Support ETL design, data transformation, and validation processes, ensuring outputs align with business rules and technical specifications.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and architecture teams to design and optimize interoperable data exchange solutions.
- Perform SQL-based data profiling, validation, and root cause analysis to support system accuracy and performance improvements.
- Support UAT planning and execution while mentoring junior analysts and contributing to documentation quality and peer reviews.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and interoperability standards, including HIPAA, CMS, ONC, and related guidelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science, Data Science, Public Health, Information Systems, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Business/Data Analyst in healthcare, with strong focus on interoperability, data integration, or healthcare data engineering.
- Deep knowledge of healthcare data standards and formats, including HL7 v2, FHIR (R4), X12 EDI, NCPDP, C-CDA, JSON, XML, and flat files.
- Strong understanding of healthcare data domains such as claims, member, provider, enrollment, and clinical data.
- Proficiency in SQL for data validation, profiling, and analysis of large-scale datasets.
- Experience working with ETL pipelines and healthcare integration tools (e.g., Mirth Connect, InterSystems, Talend, AWS Glue) is a plus.
- Familiarity with API-based integrations and FHIR RESTful APIs, including SMART on FHIR concepts.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and statistical reasoning capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts into clear business insights.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively in distributed teams.
