MAJOR FUNCTION:
To provide friendly, professional, and high-quality dental hygiene care to CompleteCare patients within a team-based, patient-centered dental home model of care. Reports to Chief Dental Officer.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES:
- Identifies patients and reviews medical history
- Performs Full mouth debridement, Scaling and root planning, child prophylaxis, adult prophylaxis, dental sealants, and fluoride treatment
- Administration of local anesthesia
- Performs Periodontal probing and charting
- Fills Preauthorization request for scaling and root planing
- Records procedures completed, updating medical history, and complying with HIPAA,
- Fills hygiene postcard
- Sets the date of next periodic oral exam in the computer
- Provides Oral hygiene instructions
- Participates in ordering supplies for dental hygiene with dental team leader
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments used for dental hygiene as outlined by OSHA and CDC guidelines
- Disinfects dental chair
- Helps in taking dental X-rays as needed
- Reviews discharge instructions with patients.
OTHER JOB DUTIES:
- Provides safe environment of care
- Reduces risk of nosocomial infections in patients, employees, and visitors.
- Interacts with patients, visitors, staff, and outside agencies in professional manner
- Contributes to Improving Organizational Performance Activities
- Promotes positive working relationships among supervisor, staff, and other departments
- Interacts with all other departments to achieve health center mission
- Always maintains strict confidentiality as per Confidentiality Statement
- Identifies problems and develops recommendation for resolution
- Demonstrates ability to organize and prioritize tasks
- Assumes personal responsibility for ongoing professional growth and development
- Participates in department planning activities, as requested
- Participates in health center committees, as assigned
- Adheres to CCHN personnel policies
- Maintains clean and orderly work area.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current NJ Dental hygiene License from New Jersey State Board of Dentistry.
- 1 – 2 years of experience preferred
- CPR certified
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to navigate electronic dental record systems
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
