Salary: Starting at $90,000+ depending on experience
Position Overview
An environmental services operation is seeking an experienced operations leader to oversee daily activities at a Construction & Demolition (C&D) disposal facility. This role is responsible for managing site operations, maintaining regulatory compliance, supervising personnel, and driving operational efficiency across landfill activities.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience within landfill operations, heavy civil construction, aggregates, quarry operations, or related industrial environments. A solid understanding of trucking coordination, equipment utilization, and environmental compliance is essential for success in this role.
Primary Responsibilities- Direct daily landfill operations including waste placement, compaction activities, and cover application
- Oversee tipping operations, traffic flow, and incoming material coordination
- Work closely with haulers and transportation partners to maintain efficient site throughput
- Monitor grading, drainage systems, and airspace utilization to support long-term site performance
- Track operational metrics including material volumes, turnaround times, and production efficiency
- Ensure site operations remain compliant with environmental regulations, permits, and reporting requirements
- Coordinate inspections, compliance documentation, and regulatory recordkeeping
- Oversee stormwater management, erosion prevention, and related environmental control systems
- Partner with environmental consultants and regulatory agencies when necessary
- Lead corrective actions and response efforts related to compliance matters
- Supervise equipment operators, labor personnel, and support staff
- Establish productivity expectations while reinforcing operational and safety standards
- Promote a strong culture centered on workplace safety and regulatory compliance
- Support employee development, accountability, and performance improvement
- Oversee the operation and utilization of heavy equipment including loaders, excavators, compactors, and dozers
- Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules and repair activities
- Ensure equipment availability supports operational demands efficiently
- Maintain positive working relationships with contractors, haulers, and customers
- Address operational concerns, scheduling issues, and service-related matters professionally
- Support overall customer satisfaction and site performance goals
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in landfill operations, heavy civil construction, quarry operations, or related industrial environments
- Previous leadership or management experience required
- Strong understanding of trucking logistics and heavy equipment operations
- Familiarity with handling and disposal processes related to construction and demolition materials
- Knowledge of environmental compliance requirements and permitting processes
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Experience managing Construction & Demolition landfill operations
- Understanding of airspace management and landfill development planning
- Familiarity with scale systems, tracking software, and operational reporting tools
