Position SummaryThe Maintenance Supervisor is a working leader responsible for supervising a team of Maintenance Technicians while performing hands-on maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of aircraft systems. This role ensures that daily maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with FAA regulations, maintenance manuals, and company procedures. The Maintenance Supervisor acts as a first-line leader—assigning tasks, monitoring work quality and documentation, mentoring technicians, and coordinating with Quality Assurance, Planning, and other departments—while remaining actively engaged in technical work to support aircraft delivery and operational excellence.
Essential Functions1. Supervise and perform aircraft inspection, maintenance, and repair activities in accordance with FAA Part 43, Part 91, and Part 145 regulations, ensuring all work meets quality, safety, and airworthiness standards.
2. Act as a working supervisor by assigning daily tasks, monitoring progress, and performing technical work alongside team members to ensure efficiency, quality, and timely completion of projects.
3. Oversee maintenance documentation, logbook entries, and work order accuracy to ensure all required information is complete, legible, and compliant with company and regulatory standards.
4. Provide daily leadership, guidance, and on-the-job training to technicians, supporting skill development and competency progression within the company’s Competency-Based Pay and Progression (CBPP) framework.
5. Enforce safe work practices and adherence to company policies, procedures, and Repair Station Manual requirements, promptly addressing hazards, nonconformances, and safety concerns.
6. Support customer communications by providing progress updates, technical input, and maintenance findings in coordination with the Maintenance Manager.
7. Maintain readiness, calibration, and accountability of shop tools, test equipment, and ground support systems to ensure compliance with calibration and tool control standards.
8. Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency, documentation accuracy, and shop organization; implement best practices in coordination with management and quality teams.
9. Promote a safe, organized, and collaborative work environment, following all company policies, Repair Station Manual procedures, and Safety Management System (SMS) guidelines.
10. Lead by example in adhering to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and accountability in all decisions and actions.

QualificationsEducation & Certifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training highly desirable
· FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate required.
· IA preferred but not required.
· OEM/Manufacturer training (Garmin or equivalent) highly desirable.
Work Experience
· 5+ years aircraft maintenance experience in a Part 145 MRO environment.
· Hands-on experience with turboprop platforms strongly preferred.
· Prior lead or supervisory experience desirable.
· Strong working knowledge of FAA requirements and repair station documentation.
Key Knowledge, Skills, Competencies
· Advanced knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures, systems, and troubleshooting methods for turboprop and light jet aircraft under FAA Part 43, 91, and 145 regulations.
· Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to assign work, monitor progress, and coach technicians for performance, quality, and compliance.
· Proven technical proficiency in inspection, repair, and documentation processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company and regulatory standards.
· Deep understanding of maintenance documentation, logbook procedures, and Repair Station Manual requirements.
· Effective communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional coordination with Quality Assurance, Planning, and Operations leadership.
· Ability to train, mentor, and evaluate technicians to support skill development, competency progression, and a culture of accountability.
· Commitment to safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement consistent with The Blackhawk Group’s core values and Safety Management System (SMS).
