AGGREGATE TECHNICIAN

Position Summary
Aggregate Mineral Resource Group, LLC. is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Aggregate Technician to support aggregate production, sampling, testing, and quality control operations across active quarry and material processing facilities. This position is responsible for conducting aggregate sampling and laboratory testing procedures, ensuring material compliance with Caltrans specifications, maintaining accurate testing documentation, and supporting operational quality assurance initiatives.
The Aggregate Technician will work closely with quarry operations personnel, plant operators, quality control teams, and management to ensure aggregate materials consistently meet required specifications for construction, infrastructure, and roadway applications. This role requires strong technical knowledge of aggregate testing procedures, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within active industrial and quarry environments.
The ideal candidate will possess current Caltrans certifications, aggregate testing experience, and a strong understanding of construction materials, laboratory procedures, and field sampling operations.
Responsibilities
· Perform aggregate sampling, testing, and quality control procedures in accordance with Caltrans and industry standards
· Conduct laboratory and field testing of aggregate materials including gradation, moisture content, density, sand equivalent, and other required material tests
· Collect and document representative material samples from quarry, crushing, screening, and stockpile operations
· Maintain accurate testing records, quality assurance documentation, and compliance reporting
· Ensure aggregate products meet Caltrans specifications, project requirements, and customer quality standards
· Collaborate with operations personnel and plant operators to identify and address material quality issues
· Monitor material production trends and communicate quality concerns to operations leadership
· Maintain testing equipment, laboratory instruments, and sampling tools in proper working condition
· Assist with internal audits, quality inspections, and compliance reviews as required
· Coordinate with external inspectors, contractors, vendors, and regulatory personnel during material evaluations and site visits
· Support operational improvement initiatives related to aggregate quality, production consistency, and material performance
· Follow all company safety procedures, MSHA regulations, and environmental compliance standards
· Assist with inventory management of laboratory supplies, testing materials, and operational consumables
· Participate in safety meetings, operational training, and ongoing quality assurance initiatives
· Travel between operational sites as necessary to support testing and inspection activities
Requirements:Qualifications/Knowledge/Critical Skills
· Current Caltrans aggregate testing certifications required
· Minimum 2–5 years of experience in aggregate testing, quality control, construction materials, or quarry operations preferred
· Strong understanding of aggregate production processes, material specifications, and testing procedures
· Knowledge of Caltrans standards, laboratory testing protocols, and quality assurance requirements
· Experience performing laboratory and field testing for aggregate and construction materials
· Familiarity with crushing plants, screening systems, quarry operations, and material processing environments preferred
· Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation and testing records
· Ability to analyze material data and communicate findings effectively to operations personnel and leadership
· Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic reporting systems preferred
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple testing priorities in a fast-paced environment
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
· Regular exposure to outdoor industrial quarry, aggregate processing, and laboratory environments including dust, noise, vibration, and changing weather conditions
· Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting during sampling and testing activities
· Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly
· Ability to work around heavy equipment, conveyors, crushers, and active production areas safely
· Occasional travel between operational facilities may be required
Work Environment / Position Structure
· This position operates within active aggregate production facilities, quarry operations, and laboratory environments
· The Aggregate Technician works closely with operations personnel, plant operators, quality control teams, contractors, and management
· Daily responsibilities involve both field sampling and laboratory testing activities
· Work schedules may vary depending on production demands, testing requirements, and operational priorities
· The role requires strong attention to detail, operational awareness, and the ability to maintain quality standards within a fast-paced industrial environment
Compensation
The Aggregate Technician position offers competitive hourly compensation ranging from $28.00 to $37.00 per hour commensurate with experience, certifications, technical expertise, and industry background.

Final compensation will be determined based on certifications, experience, and operational qualifications.
