RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION

  • Project Management (Basic) – with close supervision, the Project Engineer I will be assigned project tasks and act as an ISAT representative for project activities. Basic knowledge of project management is necessary.
  • Billing (Basic) – must understand our billing tracking software (Nexus) and how to input ALL hours whether it is for a project, administrative, or personal leave.
  • Communication – will be able to communicate in all forms of correspondence for tasks related to projects associated with; will create transmittals, send follow up emails: after coordination meetings, for requested information, for clarification on missing or unclear project documents and providing clear project updates; all related communication must be electronically documented in Nexus notes, project folders, and CC’d to the supervising PM.
  • Project File Management (Basic) – must have a working knowledge of our file structure and learn how to keep all file folders organized; must learn ISAT file naming convention and how to save files in the corresponding project folders on the network.
  • Submittals (Basic) – must be capable of building basic submittals when provided with an SDF (Seismic Design Force worksheet) and PIW (project information worksheet); must be able to create submittals using ISAT legend builder software.
  • Legends (Basic) – must have a working knowledge of bracing legends; must be able to build them for projects (all trades), configurations; according to the relevant building code.
  • Detail Seismic Bracing Layouts (Basic/Intermediate) – with minimal guidance from the supervisor, will perform seismic layouts per the requirements of the legend and the ISAT bracing manual; will begin to understand how a legend is built and how to troubleshoot spacing issues, walls, and deck types.
  • Perform Kit Takeoff Count (Basic/Intermediate) – must be able to complete a kit builder. Will be able to write a quote for seismic kit materials based on the ISAT kit builder software.
  • Develop a General Knowledge of all ISAT Kit Components (Basic) must be able to identify ISAT hardware and understand their uses and differences; hardware includes all bracket styles, LRD’s (longitudinal restraint device), rod stiffeners, anchors, strut, etc.
  • Assist in Development – assists the engineer(s) in ongoing development & improvement of technical support procedures and systems for ISAT.
  • Point Loads (Basic to Intermediate Level) – must learn to point load and understand the difference between vertical dead loads and seismic loads; and how to calculate spacing to determine loads.
  • ISAT Seismic Restraint Systems Guidelines (Basic) – must become familiar with ISAT manual: general notes, seismic bracing notes and details.
  • Program Proficiency (Basic) – proficient with the following software:
    • AutoCAD
    • ISAT Seismic Restraint Legend
    • Kit Builder
    • Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook)
    • Nexus
  • Code Knowledge (Basic) – must acquire a basic knowledge of all codes pertinent to ISAT engineering scopes and how they govern seismic engineering. The Project Engineer I will be familiar with:
    • ASCE-7 (Chapter 13 Seismic Design Requirements for Nonstructural Components)
    • IBC (International Building Code)
    • CBC (California Building Code)
  • Prepare Quotes (Basic/Intermediate) – must be able to prepare quotes for suspended distributed utilities and basic custom engineering to be used by PM or supervisor.
  • Organization – must be able to keep a clean and organized work environment.
  • Entry Level Field Support (Basic) under the supervision of a Project Manager, will perform job walks on construction sites to gather information, provide ISAT inspection, or help troubleshoot project issues.
  • Performs Other Duties as Assigned – The employee might be asked to perform duties not listed in this job description, but which are also considered to be essential to the employment position.
  • Daily Nexus Time Sheet Entry – Demonstrates a commitment to accurately entering 100% of completed work into Nexus daily.
  • Utilization of Nexus Notes – All internal and external correspondence related to each task must be thoroughly documented in Nexus notes. This ensures comprehensive record-keeping and effective communication.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • 3–5 years of experience in field support, project coordination, or construction operations.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, construction drawings, and applicable regulations.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in writing business correspondence and presenting information to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and file/document management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); basic mathematical skills for calculating variances, financial ratios, and field measurements.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Basic understanding or willingness to learn applicable industry codes, including ASCE-7, IBC, UFC, and CBC.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to job sites as needed.
  • Adaptable, dependable, and able to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
