Description:

SUMMARY: The Store Manager is responsible for bringing to life West Music’s mission of “Encouraging people of all ages and abilities to: Play now. Play for life.”. In our fast paced, challenging, and collaborative work environment, our Store Manager’s main responsibility is to lead their team to achieve all key metrics and achieve all profitability goals. Analyzing store performance indicators against company goals and leading direct reports to develop plans to improve the business (in partnership with the Director of Regional Sales) is what success looks like. Store Managers proactively assist in creating the store business plan to drive profitable sales through forecasting and scheduling. They hold the retail teams accountable to deliver results through various development programs by leading training, following up, and coaching. By leading the overall skill building and development of your store team in line with company initiatives, Store Managers create a positive culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as business needs dictate:

Drive Store Sales:

  • Instill a focus on creating life long, satisfied customers.
  • Create opportunities to increase topline sales and direct associates to execute sales driving initiatives.
  • Monitors all measurable financial indicators to determine store performance to goals. Meets established quotas and expense budgets while monitoring and adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Determine sales strategy and customer experience for the store and each department based on budget.

Provide Business Management:

  • Ensure operational compliance for the store including inventory management, visual merchandising standards, and customer service expectations.
  • Communicate and partner with Merchandise Manager’s to identify current and future customer needs as well as communicate all team information to assist in meeting budgeted GMROI goals.
  • Follow and maintain OSHA, safety, security and maintenance policy/procedures.
  • Direct associates to monitor merchandise stock levels, merchandise presentations, and ensure selling floor is adequately stocked according to visual standards.
  • Model and direct associates to ensure customer service standards are met. Resolve customer problems or complaints by determining optimal solutions in a timely manner.
  • Model and ensure all policies and procedures, are communicated effectively to associates, maintained and consistently followed.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of employee information including, but not limited to, Time and Attendance records, personal data, and payroll.

Demonstrate Leadership excellence:

  • Build a high performance sales team by setting and communicating clear goals, expectations, and responsibilities.
  • Develop positive relationships with staff through consistent coaching and feedback.
  • Coach and train associates to improve performance through weekly gold star coaching & floor coaching.
  • Partner with Director of Regional Sales to identify associate training needs to facilitate growth and improved performance of associates.

Direct Emphasis on Customer Relationships:

  • Educate all associates and customers on all the services West Music provides, not only to support internal teams but to provide customers with the knowledge that we can service all of their music needs.
  • Partner with team to ensure customers are notified in a timely manner on information, product needs, and events.
  • Sustain customer outreach through social media for your location.
  • Review and consider all donation requests.
Requirements:

Education, Experience & Qualifications –

Required qualifications:

  • Two to five years sales success with experience as a keyholder, lead, supervisor, or manager.
  • Experienced relationship builder with both internal and external customers and resources.
  • The ability to work non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license and be able to be insured as a driver of West Music vehicles.

Desired qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from four year college or university in business or music related field.
  • Prior Band/Orchestra, Vocal or General Music experience.
