Job Overview:
Under the direction of the Revenue Cycle Manager, the Charge Capture Analyst is responsible for reviewing all CINJ/RWJBH Medical Oncology and Hematology medical record and reconcile all appropriate charges, make modifications to the charges as necessary and update the financial system. Also monitor and correct charge exceptions, delinquent data, and discharges.
Qualifications:
Required:
- HS diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 2-5 years of facility and/or practice billing experience required.
- Experience in charge capture, chart review, ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS coding and billing and reimbursement knowledge surrounding UB-04 claim submission required.
- Effective communication, analytical, organizational skills.
- Medical terminology knowledge required.
- Demonstrates knowledge of proficiency of standard PC word processing, spreadsheets (Word and Excel).
Preferred:
- College degree preferred
- Certified Coding Specialist (CSS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
Scheduling Requirements:
- Full-Time, Hourly position– 37.5 hours a week
- Travel to Oceanport, NJ as needed
Essential Functions:
- Understands charging process and compliance issues and has the ability to provide resolution with the assistance and guidance of the Revenue Cycle Manager.
- Review the EPIC patient billing reports on a daily basis.
- Review the EPIC patient billing patient reports on a daily basis.
- Reports will need to be referenced as the charge capture specialist reconciles the billing designation of charges.
- Responsible for timely review, audit and reconciliation of financials including invoicing and reconciliation process.
- Responsible for timely correction made on all encounters that need corrections.
- Works collaboratively with CINJ clinical staff to review and maintain integrity of clinical documentation and protocol data.
- Maintains strong knowledge of EPIC and ONCORE applications.
- Interpret contract and protocol language to ensure proper charge reconciliation and billing designation.
- Attends to and resolves issues indicated on EPIC work queues and other edit applications related to CINJ accounts.
- Analyzes manual and computer reports to identify problem areas such as accounts holding on DNFB that should have been billed but were not due to inaccurate or missing information.
- Responsible for supporting hospital charge capture and revenue improvement initiatives.
- Understands the importance of Communication and follows up with electronic and voice messages to/from staff.
- Maintains confidentiality of patients information at all times.
- Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminology, ask questions to clarify misunderstandings.
- Assist Revenue Cycle Manager with special projects needed.
- Supports and enhances the compliance efforts of the hospital by adhering to the regulatory, departmental and organizational guidelines relating to charging for services.
- Uses billing expertise to compare the medical record documentation, billing system and patient account charge detail in EPIC to the individual items billed.
- Works well independently in remote office and is available during scheduled work hours.
- Scheduled work hours will be a combination of working from home and on site.
- Must possess the ability to organize work effectively, manage multiple concurrent priorities with competing deadlines and pay careful attention to detail and presentation.

- Participates in ongoing education as required.
