About This Position
The Receptionist is responsible for receiving and directing patients, visitors, vendors, and clients to appropriate locations and parties. Notifies personnel of arrival. Answers telephone call and schedules patient appointments. The receptionist is often the first point of contact for patient callers and appointments.
Requirements:REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
1. Education - High school diploma or equivalent required.
4. Experience - A minimum of one year experience in a medical office setting required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Reliable and punctual attendance is essential; expected to be at job as scheduled each scheduled day.
2. Serves patients by greeting them, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records.
3. Welcomes patients and visitors in person or on the telephone and answering or referring inquiries.
4. Optimizes patients’ satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
5. Uses applicable software programs to schedule patient appointments according to scheduling guidelines in coordination with physician/provider schedules.
6. Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient’s arrival, reviewing
appointment type compared to schedule, and reminding providers of delays.
7. Comforts patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties, answering patients’ questions, and maintaining the reception area.
8. Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
9. Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information as appropriate.
10. Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information such as collecting copays as appropriate.
11. Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
12. Follows policies and procedures, reporting needed and/or suggested changes to Supervisor.
13. Follows up on referrals, makes phone calls and documents referral details as assigned and appropriate.
14. Performs related clerical work such as typing, filing, scanning, sorting, and mailing, and other administrative support as needed.
15. Other job-related duties as assigned.
