The Opportunity: Senior Electrical Engineer
Our Atlanta office is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer (8–10+ years) to lead our electrical team. This role is responsible for designing electrical systems that meet KCL’s standards, exceed client expectations, and align with project budgets. You’ll collaborate across disciplines, produce high-quality design documents, and provide construction administration support throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Responsibilities
Demonstrate deep understanding of client goals and the relationships between owners, consultants, contractors, and suppliers
Lead the Atlanta electrical engineering team and help drive the business forward
Perform electrical system design calculations and code research
Present and discuss design concepts with clients; write and edit technical specifications
Support engineers and designers across the department
Maintain project schedules and consistently meet deadlines
Prepare cost estimates for assigned systems
Coordinate work in progress and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Cross-reference drawings with meeting notes to ensure accuracy
Conduct field surveys for remodels and additions
Produce schematic, design development, and construction documents
Review documents for accuracy and coordinate with mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural teams
Conduct site visits during construction and review shop drawings
Perform construction administration duties and troubleshoot issues as they arise
Adhere to all CAD, Revit, and KCL standards
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technology; recommend new services or process improvements
Participate in quality control reviews
Contribute ideas, mentor teammates, and model leadership behaviors
Attend meetings outside standard work hours as needed
Operate engineering tools, software, and office equipment
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge & Abilities
Strong independent judgment—priority setting, coordinating work, evaluating results
Ability to teach, influence, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences
In-depth discipline knowledge (electrical, mechanical, structural, or information systems) and a general understanding of construction
Ability to integrate theoretical and practical information into applied solutions
Strong problem-solving skills in complex or non-standard situations
Commitment to quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering preferred (or equivalent combination of experience and education)
Minimum 8–10+ years of relevant engineering experience
