Description: BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Prepares and serves foods for patients, cafeteria and special functions.
REPORTS TOFood Service Supervisor
Supervisory Responsibilities: NO
Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED
Degree: General
License/Certification Required: None
Minimum Work Experience: Cooking experience preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESGood communication skills, ability to read, write and follow recipes, fiscal responsibility, good follow-through skills, ability to function as a team member, attention to detail, basic math skills, and customer service focused.
Must be willing to shave beard or wear beard guard.
Works quickly, efficiently and accurately when preparing and serving food for patients, cafeteria or special functions
Works in a timely manner to ensure timeliness and punctuality of trayline and cafeteria openings.
Stores and handles food and dishes in a safe and sanitary manner in accordance with health regulations.
Prepares assigned food items, ensuring high quality.
Follows directions, recipes, and HACCP guidelines.
Works as a team with all cooks.
Records temperatures accurately, as assigned.
Completes prep work as assigned and checks to see that needed items are available for the following day.
Keeps work area and equipment clean, following all departmental and equipment guidelines and using correct procedures.
Communicates essential information to others, such as telephone messages, back-up needs, and watching ovens in a timely manner.
Demonstrates teamwork and the spirit of cooperation at all times. Volunteers to assist others.
Willingly accepts any other assignment that may be requested.
Maintains accurate and timely inventory within assigned responsibility.
Utilizes hospital resources and time respectfully and accountably. Manages time efficiently and is always contributing while on the job.
Medium lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 20-50 lbs occasionally, 10-20 lbs frequently and 10 lbs constantly to move objects of up to 100 lbs. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure to lifting or moving of up to 150 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting, squatting, reaching, and standing are required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
