Essential Functions and responsibilities:

    • Demonstrates expert-level proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, including Revit, and leads the application of firm standards, modeling techniques, and documentation best practices.
    • Directs the development and refinement of design concepts into comprehensive, high-quality construction documents across all project phases.
    • Leads detailed reviews of drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy, coordination, and compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements.
    • Manages project schedules, technical execution, and production efforts to ensure alignment with deadlines, budgets, and quality expectations.
    • Oversees the preparation and delivery of client presentations, renderings, and visual communication materials.
    • Applies advanced professional judgment, technical expertise, and ethical standards to complex design and documentation challenges.
    • Leads code analysis, technical research, and documentation efforts, including permitting processes and regulatory approvals.
    • Facilitates project meetings, establishes agendas, documents key decisions, and leads responses to contractor RFIs and submittals.
    • Reviews and approves shop drawings for compliance with design intent and project specifications; conducts site visits to evaluate construction progress and quality.
    • Leads coordination efforts with design originators and multidisciplinary teams to resolve complex design and documentation challenges.
    • Communicates proactively with clients, consultants, and internal teams regarding project scope, schedules, and deliverables.
    • Mentors and supports team members in developing technical skills, professional growth, and project understanding.
    • Drives knowledge sharing and contributes to advancing firm-wide technical standards and best practices.
    • Collaborates across disciplines and office locations to deliver integrated design solutions and leverage firm expertise
    • Continuous o Actively pursuing architectural licensure or serving as a senior technical resource with advanced expertise in architectural design and documentation.
    • Expert understanding of building systems, detailing, and construction documentation across multiple project types.
    • Lead quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes.
    • Active participation and leadership within GMC Learning Communities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education/Experience
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited architectural program
    • 15+ years of experience, preferred
    • Expert knowledge of Revit, CAD software, and advanced modeling/documentation tools
    • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent communication and coordination abilities across diverse teams
    • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects and mentor team members
    • Must be able to perform work-related travel and have a valid driver’s license
    • Must be local to GMC office
  • Travel Expectation

    • Up to 15%, generally limited to project specific travel
  • Physical Demands

    • This position requires work to be performed in an office environment and in the field.
    • Work done in the field may consist of exposure to various types of weather and temperatures. You may also be exposed to pollutants, chemicals, insects, and possibly water-borne pathogens, Employees are required to wear appropriate protective clothing and gear when performing fieldwork.
    • Office work may consist of prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
    • Movements such as bending, twisting, crouching, etc.
    • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times

Travel Requirements

This role is based in Savannah, Georgia, with travel primarily throughout coastal Georgia and nearby communities, generally within a 2–3 hour driving radius, as needed for project meetings and site visits.
