About This Position

Ultrasound Technologist PRN

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • The Ultrasound Technologist performs and assists with ultrasound examinations and procedures under the direction of a Radiologist or delegating practitioner to produce US exams which are used in medical diagnosis to locate injuries, foreign bodies, pathological conditions or lesions within the body. Works with leadership and radiologists to provide, enhance and maintain high levels for image quality and patient safety. Reports to designated department Supervisor/Manager/Director.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Evaluates ultrasound images for technical quality.
    • Provides services to support inpatient, ED and outpatient imaging.
    • Works in conjunction with the Sedation and Anesthesia departments to facilitate and ensure timely placement of add-on/urgent examinations.
    • Assists and supports new hire orientation and training.
    • Assures customer satisfaction (interdepartmental, community and patient/family) with services.
    • Seeks guidance from management for unusual or unanticipated circumstances that require deviation from financial/operational policies and standards of practice.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • Registration or Certification as an Ultrasound Technologist by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) required.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Knowledge of ultrasound techniques/principles and procedures as well as operation and maintenance of sonographic equipment.
    • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with patients/families, nursing personnel, physicians and coworkers.
    • Analytical skills necessary to detect pathologies based on the knowledge of physiological cause/effect of diseases and clinical principles.
    • CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
    • Ability to Travel.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
