Position Overview

Since starting business nearly two decades ago, IOC Company, L.L.C. has built its services on a foundation of safety, quality, and productivity. Supporting that mission requires reliable, secure, and responsive information technology across office and field operations.

The IT Specialist is a hands-on technical role responsible for providing end-user support while assisting with servers, networking, and application support under the direction of the IT Director. This position is ideal for an experienced, personable IT professional who has a solid technical foundation, understands enterprise IT environments, and is eager to continue growing their technical capabilities.

This role provides exposure to higher-level infrastructure, systems, and application responsibilities but does not carry full ownership of core platforms. Responsibilities and scope may expand over time based on performance, capability, and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

End-User & Desktop Support

  1. Provide Tier-1 and Tier-2 technical support for IOC employees
  2. Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues in person and remotely
  3. Support desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals
  4. Configure and troubleshoot printers and multifunction devices
  5. Maintain accurate ticket documentation and timely resolution of support requests
  6. Deliver professional, courteous, and responsive customer service

User Account & Access Management

  1. Create, modify, and disable user accounts under established procedures for:
  2. Microsoft 365 (O365)
  3. Viewpoint Vista
  4. HCSS applications
  5. QuickBooks
  6. Adobe and other business applications
  7. Assign and remove user permissions based on role, department, and approval
  8. Assist with onboarding and offboarding activities, including access provisioning and deprovisioning
  9. Ensure account changes follow company policies and security standards
  10. Escalate access or permission concerns to the IT Director as needed

Systems & Application Support (Under IT Director Guidance)

  1. Assist with administration and maintenance of:
  2. Windows Server environments
  3. Virtual machines in a Hyper-V environment
  4. Active Directory users and groups
  5. Support business applications, updates, and user access
  6. Deploy virtual machines and system resources from established templates
  7. Perform routine system checks and report findings or concerns to the IT Director
  8. Participate in infrastructure and application projects while learning IOC standards and best practices

Networking & Connectivity Support

  1. Assist with troubleshooting LAN/WAN connectivity issues
  2. Support UniFi networking equipment after initial configuration and design
  3. Assist with monitoring and troubleshooting:
  4. Point-to-Point (PtP) and Point-to-Multi-Point (PtMP) wireless links
  5. Site-to-site VPN connectivity
  6. Remote connectivity solutions such as Starlink
  7. Escalate complex networking or design-level issues to the IT Director as appropriate

Collaboration, Documentation & Growth

  1. Work closely with the IT Director on higher-level technical duties and initiatives
  2. Contribute to infrastructure, networking, and application-related projects without full ownership
  3. Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and basic diagrams
  4. Communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users
  5. Demonstrate initiative, professionalism, and a willingness to learn new technologies
  6. Support continuous improvement of IT processes and workflows
  7. Perform other IT-related duties as assigned, consistent with the scope and expectations of the IT Specialist role

Preferred Skills & Experience

  1. Experience supporting or administering:
  2. Microsoft 365 (O365)
  3. Viewpoint Vista
  4. HCSS applications
  5. QuickBooks
  6. Adobe licensing and user management
  7. Exposure to:
  8. Windows Server environments
  9. Hyper-V virtual machine deployment
  10. Active Directory administration
  11. Intune device management
  12. UniFi networking environments
  13. VPN connectivity troubleshooting
  14. Wireless bridge technologies (PtP / PtMP)
  15. Starlink or other non-traditional WAN connections
  16. PowerShell familiarity
  17. CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certifications
  18. Experience supporting field-based, construction, or industrial environments

Reporting & Supervision

  1. Reports directly to the IT Director
  2. Works collaboratively on systems, networking, and application support
  3. Does not have full ownership of enterprise platforms
  4. No direct reports

Required Qualifications

  1. Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  2. Minimum 5 years of hands-on IT support experience in an enterprise or business environment
  3. Experience supporting Windows client operating systems
  4. Demonstrated experience with user account creation and access management
  5. Working knowledge of Windows Server, virtualization, and networking concepts
  6. Experience supporting enterprise business applications
  7. Experience using IT ticketing systems and documenting work
  8. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  9. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  10. Valid Texas Driver License
  11. Willingness to travel to IOC locations as required (up to ~45%)
  12. Ability to work occasional nights or weekends for maintenance or urgent issues
  13. Ability to meet physical and safety requirements of the role
  14. Ability to read, write, and understand safety regulations applicable to IOC operations
  15. Must be able to successfully pass all required pre-employment screenings, including drug testing
