About This Position

Under the direction of the Director of Project Management Information Systems (PMIS), the co-op will assist in the overall system support, analysis, and reporting for projects within the Authority's PMIS with the goal of helping Capital Programs staff plan, execute, and close-out projects.

We are looking to hire two (2) co-ops, who will work at least 2 - 3 days onsite (40 hours per week) through December.


  • System Specific Responsibilities:
    1. Assist project setup.
    2. Assist with user provisioning.
    3. Assist with onboarding and training new users.
    4. Provide user technical support & training.
    5. Review monthly and quarterly product release notes.
  • Reporting and Dashboard Development:
    1. Assist in the development and implementation of computerized project reporting, analytics and dashboards.
    2. Review of existing dashboards and development of new data visualizations.
    3. Assist with cost management, including trending and change management.
  • Business Process Workflow Digitization:
    1. Work with System Administrators and Capital Delivery stakeholders to align electronic workflows with standard operating procedures.
    2. Assist with configuration of end user roles and permissions.
    3. Collaborate with System Administrators on identifying workflow enhancements / improvements.
    4. Coordination of meetings related to requirements gathering, workflow design, preliminary testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Data Management and Analysis:
    1. Review project data and ensure data adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy.
    2. Support others in daily use of data systems (PMIS and FMIS) and perform data extraction / analysis
    3. Troubleshoot data-related issues in PMIS.
    4. Develop new reports and dashboards to provide improved and more sophisticated analysis.
  • Participate in team / staff meetings, organization events, fieldwork, project teams, or other duties as needed.
  • Additional responsibilities may include focusing on one or more departments or locations. See applicable addendums or hiring manager for department or location specific functions.
  • Provide internal and external customers with courteous and professional experience.
  • Perform all other duties and projects that may be assigned.

  • Enrolled, for entire duration of employment, in the graduate / master’s degree program of an accredited college / university.
  • Above average solution-oriented thinking, including ability to break down problems and identify appropriate tools for addressing each step.
  • Above average quantitative / analytical perspective and attention to detail, able to critically review data and communicate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.
  • Completed coursework in:
    1. Construction Project Control and Organization
    2. Construction Management
    3. Financial Management for Engineers
    4. Engineering Probability and Statistics
    5. Financial Reporting and Managerial Decision Making
    6. Reliability Analysis and Risk Assessment
    7. Business Analysis and Information Engineering
    8. Alternative Project Delivery Methods and Project Controls
  • Above average proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • At least one (1) year of experience with Business Intelligence (BI) dashboard applications and data analytics software.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment, with multiple competing priorities / projects.
  • Highly organized with ability to manage time, resources, and people, with exceptional ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Above average analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Above average ability to communicate effectively in English, both in written and oral forms.
  • Highly organized, motivated, and have great attention-to-detail.
  • Strong interest in public service, transit, or transportation and how it operates.
  • Above average ability to work effectively in diverse, collaborative, fast-paced environments as well as independently.
  • Ability to independently commute to assigned work locations in the Boston, MA metro area, as required by the role.
  • Authorized to work in the United States (international students in CPT, STEM, or OPT programs through a university are eligible to apply). The MBTA does not provide visa sponsorship, such as H1-B status.
