About This Position

Description:

Come join a team where you can help others grow and live up to their potentials. You will be providing support services to adults in a residential setting at one of our Waiver or ICF homes located near Cleveland, Ohio.

There is a focus on helping individuals provide volunteer services in the community, attend community outings, and participate in daily living skills. No job experience is required, but we are looking for compassionate team players committed to making a difference in the lives of others.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

  • Providing active treatment on an ongoing basis
  • Providing support with self care skills, while encouraging the individual to be as independent as possible
  • Providing support with mobility skills and use of adaptive equipment, if needed
  • Assists individuals with any activities; acting as teacher, a coach, and a mentor encouraging independence and assisting as needed
  • Encourages individuals to be as independent as they can be and promoting freedom of choice
  • Establishes and maintains an environment that fosters personal growth of both individual and staff
  • Completes all documentation in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ensures the work area is clean and safe at all times



Requirements:

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license or State ID.
  • Willing to learn and perform all DSP job functions and responsibilities.
  • Willing to engage comfortably and communicate well with individuals with developmental disabilities including physical handicaps, mental disorientation, and emotional instability.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and communicate well with other employees, individuals’ Guardians and family members, visitors, and the general public.
  • Alertness in recognizing problems needing attention.
  • Keep an appearance that meets policy requirements.
  • Be responsible, honest, trustworthy, patient, and punctual.
  • Ability to assist in evacuation of individuals from unit or facility as appropriate.
  • Learn and apply appropriate developmental-treatment programs, procedures, and protocols with strict adherence to the Rights of Persons with Developmental Disabilities.
  • Learn and perform best practices for safety, grooming techniques, cleaning and sanitizing, operation of laundry, kitchen, and housekeeping equipment.
  • Ability to express and document individuals’ progress and behaviors verbally and in writing.
