Cook at Avesta – Gorham, Maine

Avesta Housing is seeking a dependable and resident-focused Cook to help prepare and serve quality meals within our assisted living community, Inn at Village Square.

In this hands-on role, you'll prepare meals for regular and modified diets, support special events, and help ensure the kitchen and food storage areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with all safety and regulatory standards. You'll work closely with the dining team to deliver consistent, high-quality service while respecting resident preferences and dignity. Each shift, your work will contribute to a welcoming community where residents feel cared for, respected, and at home.

What We're Looking For

The person who is ready for this opportunity will meet the following requirements:

• Excellent judgment
• Caring attitude
• Detail oriented
• Good communications skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of working with kitchen tools, preparing meals, and serving to a community

• One year of cooking experience (preferably in a healthcare setting)
• Must be able to work independently as well as a part of a team, under the direction of the Food Services Supervisor
• Flexible schedule and willingness to work on evenings and weekends
• Good communication skills and ability to interact with people effectively

This is a part-time opportunity, and this position pays $19.00 - $24.00 per hour, plus applicable shift differentials.
