Student Employee - Content Creator at Barton Community College – Student Employment , Kansas

Position Description: To create content, including video clips and photos, for the college's various platforms, including social media, to help showcase the Barton student experience and promote the various programs of the college. Position Responsibilities: 49.00% - Create content for promotional use to be used on social media platforms and other promotional items by attending student and college events including athletics. Will include evening and weekend events. 31.00% - Other duties as assigned including helping Communications Department staff on promotional shoots, event set up and other general office duties and activities. 20.00% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned. Expectations: Must be reliable, punctual and competent with social media platforms and cell phone technology
Willingness to take on any challenge, and availability for short periods of time (usually 2-5 hours total) over many weekends
Strong desire to learn and build on photography and video skill set.
Dependability- Being at the right place at the right time is critical, and some events will require early attendance.
Must be able to collaborate with Supervisor and other team members during mandatory office hours/team meetings. Willingness to be a part of and work together as a team. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience - Experience taking photos and video clips of events. Experience with social media trends and interviewing of subjects is preferred, but not required. Education - Enrolled in applicable Barton credit hours during fall and spring semesters. Other skills - Comfortable interacting with peers, faculty, and staff for gathering social media content. Physical Requirements: The work requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing, repetitively lifting lightweight objects with frequent bending or stopping, recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as computer, printers or record boxes. Occasionally lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds). Job requires average agility and dexterity.
Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings. Regular exposure to unfavorable environments such as weather and dirty and noisy locations. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment such as masks, coats, gowns, boots, goggles, gloves or shields.
