About This Position
BASIC PURPOSE AND FUNCTION: To mix, bake, and fry fresh baked goods on a daily basis. Plans production and orders ingredients. Assists Bakery Manager with supervisory duties.
Ensures cleanliness of overall Bakery Department including equipment, utensils, bakeware, floors and walls. Disposes of Bakery Department refuse.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast, friendly, courteous customer service. Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in-store intercom , and one-on-one customer contact.
Scales and combines ingredients, mixes batter, proofs and bakes products such as: cakes, cookies, and pastries. Defrosts, proofs, and bakes frozen products. May fry, fill and ice doughnuts. Assists customers by taking and filling special orders for baked goods.
Assists Bakery Manager with supervision of Bakery Department personnel. Assists with inventory receiving duties. Orders frozen product and dry ingredients.
Maintains a safe and secure work environment. Ensures cleanliness and sanitation of Bakery equip ment and work area. Operates related equipment including: mixers, duchess, rounders, sheeters, ovens, and proof boxes. Uses work aides such as knives, scrapers and scales.
Responsible for performing all job duties with honesty and integrity. Other necessary and required duties.
Washes and scrubs pots, pans, baking sheets and bakery utensils. Sweeps, scrapes, and washes floors.
Cleans front of ovens and washes walls. Wipes down bakery equipment.
Disposes of Bakery Department refuse including empty boxes. Uses cleaning solutions and related work aides.
Follows company and department cleaning procedures. Ensures a safe work environment. Responsible for performing all job duties with honesty and integrity.

SKILLS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:Ability to be friendly, courteous, tactful and maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers. Must possess good communication skills, good leadership and interpersonal skills.
Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to frequently reach, lift and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 55 lbs. Requires manual dexterity, good eye hand coordination and good balance. Ability to push and pull fully loaded pallet jacks, four-wheel and six-wheel carts. Ability to walk quickly and work at a production rate of speed.
Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities. Requires knowledge of: baking procedures, safety and sanitation procedures, basic math and weights and measures. Ability to understand formulas, recipes and product weights. Requires legible handwriting and the ability to read and follow written instructions. Requires knowledge of taste, content, handl ing and perishability of products, and department policies and procedures.
Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to utensils, baking procedures, baking ingredients, cleaning procedures, equipment and work aides necessary to complete job duties. Frequent ex posure to 400 degree Fahrenheit while baking products. Occasional exposure to -20 degrees Fahrenheit while handling products in the freezer. Frequent exposure to flour dust. The work en vironmentconsists of a production area in the Bakery Department within a temperature controlled store environment. Early morning work hours are usually required.
