Career Coach

We are in search of a Career Coach who works with the career training program leaders and students under the direct supervision of the Workforce Program Lead. The Career Coach is responsible for coaching each student so they may gain employment or access further education to advance their career. In addition, the Career Coach is responsible for referring the student to the appropriate services within the Student Services Department or elsewhere in the School to eliminate any barrier to her/his taking advantage of the educational opportunities the School has to offer.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides individual and/or group coaching to assist students in their career and academic exploration.
  • In coaching the student, identify barriers to learning or achieving their career goals; coordinate with internal teams to ensure students can access the right support.
  • Coach students through the job search process including helping them apply for jobs, complete job applications, collect background information, post-secondary college applications, and other supports to ensure student success.
  • Facilitate workshops on job readiness, resume and cover letter writing, job interviewing, and other soft skills training, as needed.
  • Develop smart plans/goal plans and resumes for each student in partnership with the student.
  • Remain current and knowledgeable in Department of Labor regulations, and industry-related information, and keep abreast of job market trends.
  • Collaborate with the Student Services Department to exchange relevant information on the students such as employment, post-secondary, or any other behavioral concerns.
  • Coordinates the post-secondary education enrollment process with the Student Services Student Success Team.
  • Maintains and updates career training and/or occupation data.
  • Provides support on initiatives and projects for students, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • BA degree in business, human resources, social work, or related field preferred;
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English or Amharic/English preferred)
  • At least 5 years of experience as a coach, recruiter, or employment specialist
  • Digital literacy skills
  • High understanding of G-suite and program management databases
  • Well-versed in digital research tools and diverse position-related software (Zoom, Office 365)
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong research skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member;
  • Ability to work two evenings a week and be flexible with the work schedule (based on the needs of the career training programs)
  • Must be able to provide proof of completed Covid-19 vaccination

The rate per hour ranges from $34.80 per hour to $41.20 per hour based on experience.
