In the role, you'll load, unload, transport, and provide excellent customer service to our vendors and customers by maintaining productivity within our Greensboro Warehouse. Position Summary
Drivers are responsible for the delivery of products to our customers in an efficient, safe, and helpful manner. They also ensure proper delivery of paperwork, collect payments, when applicable, and unload and load freight as required using the appropriate material handling equipment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Follow all state and federal laws as well as company policies and procedures
- Maintain active and in good standing, driver’s license status in class A as well as other DOT requirements (medical card, etc.)
- Inspect the truck before leaving the dock and report any problems to the supervisor or manager
- Maintain a log of miles driven by the state
- Route and load truck, when applicable
- Review stock on the truck for any required placards that may need to be displayed
- Deliver customer product(s) to designated area as requested by the customer
- Verify that correct quantities and products are delivered to each customer
- Pick-up returned items as indicated by paperwork
- Promptly report all accidents to the supervisor or manager and fill out the required paperwork, taking pictures of damaged products and/or vehicles at the scene
- Turn in signed copies of delivery tickets verifying that all deliveries and returns were made.
- Submit customer payments, if applicable, to the accounts receivable department immediately upon return to the branch
- Maintain a clean and orderly truck
- Ensure that straps, lock bars, pallet jacks, etc. have been secured or removed making the truck ready for loading
- Follow all company safety policies
- Assist with other warehouse duties, as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to operate multiple pieces of material handling equipment
- Must be trustworthy, dependable, and safety-conscious
- Ability to represent the company professionally to both employees and customers
- Ability to communicate appropriately and build professional relationships with employees and customers at all levels of the respective organization
- Ability to work in variable temperature work environments (i.e. unairconditioned/unheated warehouse and environments of customer's facilities)
- Ability to work independently with limited daily supervision and to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to sit for long periods of time operating a motor vehicle, including but not limited to, a van, straight truck, or tractor
- Ability to lift and carry up to sixty (60) pounds
- Willingness to travel
Education, Certifications & Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Class A commercial driver’s license, in good standing.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of Class C driving experience, of which three (3) must be Class A
- Traffic laws/DOT regulations/driving knowledge required
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and MVR.
- Hazmat Certification (preferred but not required)
- Certified Forklift operator
