The City of Auburn Community Development Department is seeking an Office Assistant to join our team. This position performs semi-routine clerical work with emphasis on customer service, word processing, spreadsheets, data input, filing, and recordkeeping in support of the Community Development Department.

OUR CITY
The City of Auburn is home to over 80,000 residents and encompasses over 29.8 square miles of land, two rivers, and is part of two counties - King and Pierce. The City operates as a Strong-Mayor form of Mayor-Council government, with a City Council of seven at-large members.
In this job you will...
  • Provide administrative support across multiple service areas of the department.
  • Facilitate data queries, prepare regular reports, and distribute to internal contacts and external agencies.
  • Create and maintain department electronic word processing and spreadsheet files, backing up and purging them on a regular basis.
  • Have a key role in department finances including daily financial reporting, department purchasing, and budget tracking.
  • Be the primary point of contact for department customer service inquires via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Anticipate customer needs and provide high priority to customer service and satisfaction; provide outstanding internal customer support within the department, as well as to other City employees and elected officials.
  • Process outgoing mail, including certified mail, to be delivered overnight or by courier, and UPS.
  • Order department office supplies and keep the supply area stocked and organized.
  • Operate a variety of computer programs to include word processing, spreadsheet and data base applications, graphics, mailing lists, and Outlook, to assist departmental activities.

We are looking for candidates that have:

  • Graduated from high school or equivalent
AND
  • One year of related work experience required.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel (including charts and graphs), PowerPoint, and Illustrator or PageMaker.

We would love if you have...

  • Skills using Microsoft Outlook, Access and Adobe Creative Suites .
  • Experience in a government/municipal setting
