About This Position

ABH Riverside Dr.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Mental Health Therapist (AMFT/ASW) will provide Weingart Center clients, a range of services under the supervision of the Clinical Services Director, including recovery groups, psycho-educational and therapy groups, life skills classes including anger management, conflict resolution, relationship skills and other appropriate topics; relapse prevention and individual and group counseling. The position will also serve as consultative resources for Weingart Center, develop and refine client assessment tools where needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, but are not limited to following:

Conduct a biopsychosocial intake assessment and administer a SCID-I for each client in order to assess needs/goals.
Develop goals and objectives with each client based on the above assessments (i.e., develop appropriate treatment plans and provide linkages to outpatient mental health services when necessary).
Individual counseling.
Group design and facilitation.
Maintenance and development of community resources.
Preparation of all necessary reports and case notes.
Participation in on-site staff training in areas relating to servicing homeless individuals and therapeutic modalities.
Monitoring and evaluating the delivery of services.
Network with all WCA programs and other social service agencies to make appropriate referrals and follow up to assure delivery of service.
Travels to off-site program locations 1-2 days weekly to provide clinical services.
Reports for work as scheduled.
Works effectively with co-workers, customers and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner; listening to and objectively considering the ideas and suggestions from others; keeping commitments; keeping others informed of work progress, timetables and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical business solutions; addressing others by name, title or other respectful identifier, and respecting the diversity of our work force in actions, words and deeds.
Other related duties as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Experience working with adults with disabilities and substance dependency.
Experienced in counseling with homeless and/or low-income people preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Creative and sensitive to the needs of low income and homeless clients.
Computer proficient.
The ability to manage several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility in meeting deadlines and adjusting to changing priorities.
Exhibits professional manner when interfacing with professional staff, WCA visitors and programs and services providers.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree in either Social Work or Clinical Psychology preferred; Master’s eligible or commensurate required.
Experience in substance abuse, mental health and dual diagnosis treatment and service delivery.
Experience and strong knowledge base of treatment and modalities.
Experience in clinical assessment and diagnosis.
BBS registered.
Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) a plus.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Standing and sitting for long periods of time along with being able to move and walk to various locations; stair climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pulling, pushing, bending, twisting, and lifting (20-25 lbs.) and some driving.
Ability to see, hear and talk clearly in order to receive instruction and to give instructions.
Ability to operate a computer efficiently. Must be able to operate all types of office equipment.
Work indoors in temperature-controlled environment.
Complex reading and writing skills. Ability to read, proof, and analyze complex documents. High level concentration and attention to detail for extended periods of time required.
Ability to quickly organize and communicate thoughts and to understand communications from others. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals in the organization, and outside providers and consultant.
Ability to work independently, with others, around others, have verbal contact with others, face-to-face contact with others and prioritize work.
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as defined by CDC.
