About This Position

The BCA Production Internship is a fast-paced, hands-on internship focused on presenting multiple live music, DJ sets, movies and events each week in various outdoor settings. Interns gain real-world experience working with skilled event staff, performers and patrons. The intern team is an essential part of BCA’s summer events coming to life for the community. By the end of the season, interns will:

  • Be comfortable reading a stage plot and input list, setting up for a musical performance and working with musicians.
  • Be comfortable running an efficient sound check, seeking to both achieve your goals as the mixer, but support musicians on stage to do their best work as well.
  • Have the ability to execute a successful live mix on a digital sound board.
  • Attain professional level stage hand skills in setting up for any live event with sound, lighting and power systems.
  • Understand how to work on a team with your peers and a team leader and supervisor.

This is an unpaid internship with the ability to earn college credit at University of Vermont or St. Michael's College.

  • A desire to learn new technology in the entertainment industry
  • A desire to work on a team of both professionals and peers that are learning
  • The ability to maintain a schedule, arrive on time, and work on weekends and evenings
  • The comfort to work outside, in diverse environments such as City Hall Park and the Church Street Marketplace while doing your best work and maintaining a professional level of work.

  • Ability to actively support City diversity, equity, and cultural competency efforts within stated job responsibilities and work effectively across diverse cultures and constituencies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as evidenced by ongoing trainings and professional development.
  • Must be enrolled in a high school, college, university internship course/experience
  • Poses a strong interest in live sound, lighting and event, production or artist management.
  • Ability to work with professional performing artists.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and the general public
  • Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Regular attendance is necessary and is essential to meeting the expectations of the job functions.
  • Ability to understand and comply with City standards, safety rules and personnel policies.
