Job Description

Description:

Four tens. No mandatory overtime. Air-conditioned shop. You'll never be stuck on one part.

Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 5:30 am to 3:30 pm. Three-day weekend every week. No mandatory overtime.

Pay: $23 to $30 per hour, based on experience.

The job

You set up and run vertical and horizontal CNC mills on prototype and low-volume castings for defense, power generation, marine and vehicle OEMs, including parts for critical programs. Our customers send us a constant stream of new products and we turn jobs constantly, so you are setting up new work all the time: build or adapt the fixture, prove out the program with our programmers and hold tolerances a production shop never sees. This is not a button-pushing job, and you will not sit on one part for weeks.

What you'll do

• Set up and run vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers on iron, aluminum and steel castings

• Read prints, models and GD&T to plan the sequence of operations

• Work directly with programmers to prove out new programs and fix what doesn't work

• Design and build fixtures and tooling for one-off and low-volume parts

• Set offsets, make tool changes and troubleshoot

• Inspect your own work with micrometers, calipers and gauges

• Deburr and finish parts to print

About Griffin Industries

We make stuff that matters. Griffin Industries is a family-owned Green Bay shop that machines prototype and low-volume castings for defense, energy, marine, electric vehicle, construction and agricultural OEMs. Our customers send us a constant stream of new products. Every day is a new day at Griffin, with new challenges and a fast pace.

We started in 1983 as a pattern shop and were one of the first in the country to put CNC on foundry tooling and the first to apply 3D printing to print sand molds. Today we run 18 CNC verticals and horizontals, three Zeiss and Coord3 CMMs, laser scanning, FEA casting simulation and 3D-printed sand cores in a 40,000 square foot climate-controlled building, and we are adding our own foundry next door. We are ISO 9001 certified, ITAR registered and CMMC Level 2 compliant, and we are building toward AS9100 as our aerospace and defense work grows.

Most of our team has been here more than ten years with several members celebrating over 30 years with the company.

A note from the owner

Griffin is the company my family started in 1983. We are now carrying the largest backlog in our history, and the parts on our floor end up in equipment that defends, powers and moves this country. We have built this company with a talented team of like-minded people that like to get things done. If you want an always-changing, fast-paced environment, this is the place for you.
