Job Description

The role of the ICU LVN and Monitor Tech is to assist the ICU RN in rendering collaborative care via the defined department Method of Practice, to caseloads of patients for an assigned shift in accordance to the medical staff practitioner’s treatment plan, nursing standards of care/practice and professional code of ethics.

An additional role of the ICU LVN and Monitor Tech is to closely observe the cardiac monitor on assigned shift, watching for lethal dysrhythmias and reports information appropriately to the RN.

Qualifications:

  1. Current California LVN license with IV Certificate
  2. BLS upon hire and on-going
  3. ACLS within 6 months of hire and on-going
  4. Telemetry upon 1 month of hire and on-going
  5. Basic Computer knowledge
  6. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to instruct/comfort patients/families; to maintain effective communication/contact with healthcare team members
  7. Analytical skills necessary in order to prioritize workload and prepare nursing care plans, implement effective nursing care and develop solutions to problems concerning patient’s body, mind, and spirit
  8. Basic computer knowledge including: Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Intranet
  9. Ability to learn Computer software programs applicable to patient care and operations process. Must be able to understand, read, and write English clearly
  10. Successful completion of Dysrhythmia class within 1 month of hire.
