Job Description
Founded in 1906, Oahu Country Club has proudly served its members for 120 years. As Hawaii’s oldest private member-only golf club, we’re known for our timeless charm, world-class course, and deep-rooted sense of community. We are in need of an Assistant Mechanic supporting our Grounds Department. Local candidates strongly preferred, candidates must be available for an in-person interview.
Summary: Assist the Head Mechanic in any major and minor mechanical repairs and maintenance on a variety of gasoline and diesel powered equipment and related work as required. Responsible for cleaning equipment service areas and securing work tools, equipment and shop area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repairs all equipment used in maintenance work.
- Perform general overhauls of motors, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, pressure pumps, valves, differentials, carburetors, distributors, fuel pumps, starters, generators, etc.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Sharpens grinds and checks all mowing equipment to ensure proper cut and no hydraulic or oil leaks.
- May do body and fender repair work and painting.
- May do fabricating and welding as needed.
- Occasionally makes emergency repairs out of shop.
- Able to operate all golf maintenance equipment and powered hand tools. May assist in Equipment Operator and Section Person work if needed.
- May assist in any storm damage clean up and repairs.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Possess knowledge of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment; skilled in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools. Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate course of action; able to troubleshoot gas and diesel engines including electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Must have a valid drivers license and able to operate all equipment
- Must have mechanical aptitude and be able to lift 100 lbs.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to use good judgment and to work in a responsible and safe manner.
- Ability to adjust one’s own work assignments as priorities change.
- Ability to communicate and conduct yourself with fellow employees, supervisors and guests in a respectful manner.
Education and/or Experience: High School diploma. Previous experience preferred.
Equipment Used:
- All shop mechanical hand tools and equipment. To include all welding equipment, reel and bed knife grinders, backlapping machine, equipment hydraulic lifts, tire changers and a variety powered tools and equipments.
- Able to operate all mowing and turf and landscape maintenance equipment.
- May operate the computer and related software.
- Assistant Mechanic shall supply his own basic work tools to perform his duties such as pliers, wrenches, hammers, socket set, etc.

The employee must have the ability and endurance to perform tasks for up to eight per work day in all weather environments.
