Job Description

Proformance Builder Solutions is a leading B2B construction services provider, specializing in roofing, siding, and house wrap for new residential construction. Founded in 2016, we have completed over 15,000 roofing installations and have recently expanded our service offerings to meet the growing demands of residential builders across the state. Our mission is to be the safest, quickest, and lowest-cost provider in the industry, delivering high-quality services to builders on time and on budget.

About the Role

The Accountant II is a developing professional who has moved beyond foundational learning and operates with greater independence across core accounting functions. This individual owns assigned areas of the monthly close cycle — including journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules — and is expected to complete them accurately and on time with minimal supervision. At this level, the accountant brings practical working knowledge of chart of accounts structure and internal controls — and can apply that foundation quickly to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and improve work product quality. Prior experience with Sage Intacct is a plus. They are comfortable navigating close deadlines, prioritizing competing tasks, and escalating appropriately when needed.

Success in this role is defined by accuracy, independence, proactive communication, and contributing beyond individual task completion — including supporting audit requests, assisting with process documentation, and mentoring junior team members.

Location: This is a fully in-office position based at our Winter Garden, FL office. Candidates must be able to commute daily. Remote candidates will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Close

• Prepare standard journal entries (accruals, prepaid amortization, recurring entries) with a rework rate below 2% per close cycle.

• Lead at least one component of the monthly close (e.g., AP review, AR review, bank reconciliations) from start to sign-off; own a defined section of the close checklist end-to-end each period and complete 75% of the financial close independently.

• Review operating expense accounts across the full close ownership area, identify miscodes, and process reclassifications independently with 98% or greater accuracy.

• Reconcile vendor portals and all assigned accounts bi-weekly and monthly without supervision; resolve discrepancies within 2 business days and document resolution.

• Ensure 100% of journal entries have backup attached or a documented memo reference; review Level I journal entries to confirm the same standard is met before close sign-off.

• Manage fixed assets and leases within Sage Intacct — add and remove assets from service, and add and close out leases and loans for branches and assets.

• Proactively partner with cross-functional teams (FP&A, AP, AR, Payroll) to gather close inputs — does not wait to be chased for information or delay close.

• Other tasks as assigned.

Reporting & Analysis

• Apply solid GAAP knowledge to evaluate accounting treatment, not just execute entries — can explain the purpose and impact of any journal entry or reconciliation in their ownership area.

• Update operating cash flow weekly and forecasted cash needs with minimal supervision.

• Perform variance analysis on assigned accounts — provide written explanations of period-over-period fluctuations exceeding materiality thresholds with 98% or greater accuracy by the third business day after close.

• Identify and implement at least one process improvement per year that reduces time, errors, or manual effort in their accounting area or as it relates to AP/AR.

• Other tasks as assigned.

Compliance & Controls

• Independently identify and resolve reconciling items — research root causes and document resolution within 3 business days.

• Own one area of the annual audit — prepare assigned PBC schedules, respond to auditor requests, and direct staff support as applicable.

• Review and revise SOPs quarterly and submit to senior leadership for sign-off; identify and draft new SOPs as processes evolve.

• Supervise one aspect of the accounting team — AR Specialists/Billing Specialists or AP Specialists — and provide written, constructive feedback.

• Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; equivalent experience may be considered.

• 2–4 years of accounting experience in a structured environment, with demonstrated ownership of close cycles, reconciliations, and journal entries.

• Solid understanding of GAAP principles; ability to evaluate and explain accounting treatment, not just execute.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (XLookups, Pivot Tables); working knowledge of Sage Intacct or a comparable ERP system required.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

• Demonstrated ability to identify process inefficiencies and implement practical improvements — someone who takes initiative beyond executing the task list.

• Comfort working independently and managing competing close deadlines without close supervision; knows when to escalate and does so proactively.

What Success Looks Like in Year One

By the end of their first year, an Accountant II should be independently leading their assigned close components on time with minimal rework, maintaining clean audit-ready documentation, and demonstrating the cross-functional communication and supervisory presence expected at this level — with an eye toward expanded ownership and a path to Accountant III.
