Laboratory Technician in Franklin, Kentucky at Alta Alloys

Job purpose

This is an entry-level Laboratory Technician position to support laboratory operations. Responsibilities include performing routine tests, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring accurate documentation of results. The ideal candidate will follow established procedures, maintain a safe and organized work environment, and assist in achieving laboratory objectives. This position will report to the Laboratory Manager.

Duties and responsibilities

Prepare, label, and process laboratory samples for testing and analysis.Perform routine laboratory tests according to established protocols.Operate, calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.Record, analyze, and report test results accurately and in a timely manner.Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and compliance with safety regulations and quality management systems.Monitor inventory levels and order laboratory supplies as needed.Dispose of hazardous materials according to safety guidelines.Assist with troubleshooting equipment and resolving technical issues.Support laboratory quality assurance and quality control activities.Collaborate with laboratory staff and other departments to achieve operational goals.

Qualifications

High school diploma required, Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Science, Biology, Geology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field preferred.Previous laboratory experience preferred but not required.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working conditions

Industrial laboratory setting with exposure to chemicals and laboratory equipment.Strict adherence to safety control protocols is required.This is an on-site first shift position.

Physical requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods.Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.Manual dexterity to handle laboratory instruments and specimens.Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
