Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Integration Engineer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale integrations leveraging the Qualys Platform and its suite of cybersecurity solutions. This role will be responsible for ingesting, transforming, and operationalizing vulnerability, asset management, compliance, and security telemetry data across the organization's technology ecosystem.
As part of the Security Operations Division, the engineer will have an opportunity to define and contribute to the overall delivery of security systems data to the CISO and CIO through the efforts of a new team.
The ideal candidate combines expertise in API development, data engineering, cloud technologies, and cybersecurity operations to enable actionable insights and automation. This individual will partner with Security Operations, Infrastructure, Cloud Engineering, Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC), and Data Analytics teams to ensure accurate, timely, and scalable security data integration.
This position is Hybrid onsite in Washington DC, or Bluemont, VA, 1-3x per week. Schedule to be defined after start date.
Design, develop, and support integrations between Qualys and enterprise platforms including:
- SIEM solutions (Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, QRadar)
- ITSM platforms (ServiceNow, Jira)
- CMDB and Asset Management systems
- Data warehouses and analytics platforms
- Cloud providers (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
Build and maintain data ingestion pipelines utilizing:
- Qualys APIs
- ETL/ELT frameworks
- RESTful web services
- Event-driven architectures
Develop scalable workflows to collect, normalize, enrich, and distribute vulnerability and asset management data.
Optimize data quality, integrity, availability, and performance across multiple security data sources.
Automate vulnerability management workflows, ticket creation, remediation tracking, and reporting processes.
Develop integrations using scripting and programming languages such as:
- Python
- PowerShell
- Java
- C#
Create reusable automation frameworks that support continuous security operations.
Implement monitoring, alerting, and self-healing mechanisms for critical integrations.
Support and optimize Qualys modules including:
- VMDR (Vulnerability Management, Detection & Response)
- Global AssetView
- CyberSecurity Asset Management (CSAM)
- Policy Compliance
- Web Application Scanning
- Patch Management
- Threat Protection
Configure and manage API authentication, permissions, and secure connectivity.
Troubleshoot integration issues related to data collection, synchronization, and system interoperability.
Create data models and dashboards to support risk management and executive reporting.
Enable reporting that provides insight into:
- Vulnerability exposure
- Asset inventory
- Compliance posture
- Remediation effectiveness
- Security trends
Collaborate with business stakeholders to define data requirements and KPIs.
Ensure integrations align with security, compliance, and data governance standards.
Implement secure coding practices and data protection controls.
Support audit activities related to vulnerability management and compliance reporting.
US Citizenship and ability to clear DHS clearance process.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field.
8+ years of experience in:
- Data integration
- Data engineering
- Security engineering
- Enterprise application integrations
Hands-on experience with Qualys platform administration and APIs.
Strong programming experience in Python and/or PowerShell.
Experience building REST API integrations and web services.
Knowledge of:
- JSON
- XML
- SQL
- ETL/ELT methodologies
Experience with cloud platforms:
- Microsoft Azure
- AWS
- Google Cloud Platform
Understanding of vulnerability management processes and security operations.
