Refrigeration Mechanic in Hudson, Colorado at Rail Modal Group LLC

Position Overview:

The Reefer Mechanic is a vital member of the Maintenance and Repair team within RMG. The Reefer Mechanic’s primary responsibility is the maintenance and repair of refrigerated containers, gensets, and other equipment on site. Maintenance and Repair is fast paced and requires individuals to effectively communicate when working with heavy machinery. The Mechanic must maintain a safe yet efficient mindset when maintaining facility equipment to best assist and support with the successful onward movement of customer cargoes.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Diagnose and repair any reefer containers and gensets
2. Prepare reports on a daily and weekly basis
3. Asses, document, and fix other equipment on site
4. Constructs daily and weekly goals for the maintenance department to complete. Provides guidance and training as needed
5. Diagnostic work using computerized or manual testing equipment
6. Perform routine checks to prevent equipment failures
7. Adjust and replace faulty parts to ensure equipment functionality and safety
8. Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and standards
9. Maintain daily records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and inspections
10. Reports on priorities and work plan to the Maintenance Superintendent
11. Perform daily housekeeping and preventative maintenance duties

1. Minimum of 3 years experience as a Reefer Mechanic
2. Strong understanding of electrical systems
3. Experience placing work orders
4. Experience maintaining a parts inventory
5. CMMS experience highly desired
6. Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
7. Strong communication skills
8. Experience generating reports in different software systems
9. Ability to perform physical demanding tasks and work in various environmental conditions
10. Willingness to teach new team members
