Job Description

Senior/Staff Product Designer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior/Staff Product Designer based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to shape digital products supporting U.S. Air Force modernization and organizational transformation.
You’ll work across legacy modernization, new capability development, and established platforms in complex multi-vendor environments.
As a primary advocate for users, you’ll influence both what gets built and how it is designed.
You’ll own UI/UX design while contributing to research, product strategy, and end-to-end product development.
The work combines human-centered design, systems thinking, and lean-agile delivery in a changing government environment.
You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and government partners to create meaningful, accessible experiences.
This is a fully remote role with occasional travel to Air Force bases across the United States.

Accountabilities:
  • Define scalable, end-to-end user flows using strong information architecture, systems thinking, design principles, accessibility standards, and established design patterns.
  • Create simple, elegant, and thoughtful interfaces in Figma, while evolving existing visual systems with clear design rationale.
  • Own UI/UX design across the product lifecycle, from early concepts and discovery through implementation and iteration.
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, researchers, and government stakeholders to shape strategy and define solutions for new and evolving capabilities.
  • Identify creative approaches to reaching users when direct access is limited, incorporating user insights into product and design decisions.
  • Plan, conduct, synthesize, and communicate generative and evaluative research to inform product direction.
  • Facilitate design activities and communicate design decisions effectively to users, teammates, stakeholders, and government partners.
  • Apply human-centered design principles throughout agile transformation efforts and help government teams become more customer-centric.
  • Contribute to product strategy by balancing user needs, organizational priorities, technical considerations, and delivery constraints.
  • Drive design excellence across the team and demonstrate product design leadership through hands-on execution and collaboration.
  • Coach and enable government partners in human-centered design practices and product-oriented ways of working.
  • Work effectively within cross-functional teams spanning product, design, engineering, research, operations, and government stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to design scalable end-to-end interaction flows incorporating intentional information architecture, accessibility, common design patterns, and sound design principles.
  • Strong UI design capabilities, including experience with visual systems, typography, iconography, illustration, branding, microinteractions, and other visual design elements.
  • Experience using established design methodologies, such as Double Diamond, and creating documentation and storytelling materials that help stakeholders understand user needs.
  • Ability to plan, synthesize, and communicate generative and evaluative user research.
  • Strong product mindset with the ability to contribute to strategy, prioritize user and organizational needs, and align design activities with lean-agile methodologies.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to clearly explain and defend design rationale to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated product design leadership and a commitment to high-quality design execution.
  • Experience collaborating within cross-functional teams and delivering products through iterative development cycles.
  • Ability to coach and enable government partners on human-centered design principles.
  • Experience working with Figma and modern product design workflows.
  • Experience with legacy modernization and/or enterprise digital transformation is a plus.
  • Military or Department of Defense experience is a plus.
  • Experience delivering technology in government, regulated industries, or other public-benefit environments is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain accountable, aligned, and effective while working on remote teams.
  • Portfolio featuring 1–2 relevant work samples that demonstrate product design expertise; website, slide deck, or uploaded portfolio formats are acceptable.
  • Must be eligible to work on the federal contract: U.S. citizenship is required, all work must be performed within the U.S. excluding U.S. territories, and the role requires eligibility for a Common Access Card (CAC) and successful completion of a government background check.
  • Must successfully complete the required employment background check.
  • This position is contingent upon the underlying contract being awarded.

Benefits:

  • Short-term and long-term disability insurance.
  • Life and AD&D insurance.
  • Dependent care FSA, healthcare FSA, and health savings account options.
  • Dollar-for-dollar 401(k) matching up to 10% of salary, with no vesting period.
