Senior Electronics Lab Technician

Position Summary

ID3 is seeking an experienced Senior Electronics Lab Technician to support the design, development, testing, assembly, and maintenance of custom electronic systems used in experiential marketing, exhibits, trade shows, branded environments, and interactive displays. This position plays a key role in transforming engineering concepts into reliable, production-ready solutions while ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on electronics professional with strong troubleshooting abilities, experience building and testing prototypes, and a passion for solving complex technical challenges in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Build, wire, assemble, and test electronic prototypes, control panels, and custom assemblies.
• Troubleshoot analog and digital electronic circuits, wiring systems, power supplies, sensors, LED systems, controllers, and communication devices.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB layouts, and engineering drawings.
• Perform diagnostics and root cause analysis on electrical and electronic failures.
• Assist engineers with prototype development, design validation, and product improvements.
• Configure, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, signal generators, and network testing devices.
• Support firmware loading, software updates, and basic programming of embedded devices when required.
• Document testing procedures, inspection results, and engineering changes.
• Create and maintain accurate bills of materials (BOMs), wiring documentation, and assembly instructions.
• Ensure all products comply with quality standards and customer specifications.
• Maintain inventory of electronic components, lab supplies, and testing equipment.
• Assist Manufacturing and Production teams with technical support during product builds.
• Mentor junior technicians and provide technical guidance when needed.
• Recommend improvements that increase efficiency, quality, and manufacturability.
• Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized laboratory environment.

Qualifications

Required

• Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of hands-on electronics technician experience.
• Strong understanding of:
  • Analog and digital electronics
  • Power distribution systems
  • Low-voltage electrical systems
  • PCB assembly and soldering
  • Wiring standards and cable fabrication
• Experience using electronic test equipment including:
  • Digital Multimeters
  • Oscilloscopes
  • Power Supplies
  • Function Generators
• Ability to read and interpret:
  • Electrical schematics
  • Wiring diagrams
  • Engineering drawings
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related discipline.
• Experience in manufacturing or custom fabrication.
• Experience with:
  • Arduino
  • Raspberry Pi
  • PLCs
  • DMX lighting controls
  • Networking hardware
  • Industrial control systems
  • LED controllers
• IPC-A-610 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification.
• Soldering certification.
• Experience supporting experiential displays, themed entertainment, exhibits, museums, or trade show environments.
• Basic understanding of CAD or PCB design software.

• Distinguish wire colors and small electronic components.
• Occasionally work on production floors or customer installations.

Work Environment

• Electronics laboratory and manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to soldering equipment, power tools, and testing instruments.
• Occasional travel to support installations or field troubleshooting.
• Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
