JOB DESCRIPTION: TEAM LEAD - SOFTWARE SOURCING

Job Title: Team Lead, Software Sourcing
Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days per week in-office)

Position Summary
The Team Lead - Software Sourcing leads execution across enterprise software, SaaS, public
cloud infrastructure and AI Services categories within News Corp's Global Sourcing
organization. This role demands a tech-savvy sourcing leader capable of navigating complex
cloud enterprise agreements, managing senior global stakeholder relationships, driving rigorous
commercial negotiations, and leading a high-performing team of Analysts/Senior Analysts.
Acting as a strategic partner to global technology leaders, the Team Lead applies systems
thinking to bridge business needs, architecture requirements, legal governance, and financial
targets.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
1. Team Leadership & Talent Management

• Directly manage, coach, and elevate a team of Analysts and Senior Analysts, setting
clear KPI targets, driving execution rigor, and managing performance.
• Allocate workload across global software sourcing pipelines, ensuring timely throughput,
contract compliance, and delivery against cost-optimization goals.
• Foster a high-performance culture grounded in continuous learning across emerging
enterprise technology, licensing models, and negotiation strategies.

2. Strategic Sourcing & Category Execution

• Drive end-to-end sourcing strategies for complex, high-value Software Enterprise
License Agreements (ELAs) and Public Cloud agreements (AWS, Azure, GCP, SaaS,
PaaS, IaaS).
• Lead competitive RFx processes, commercial negotiations, spend analytics, and supplier
rationalization initiatives across News Corp's global business units.

3. Legal, Privacy & Governance Alignment

• Partner directly with global legal counsel, data privacy attorneys, and information
security teams to draft, structure, and negotiate robust MSAs, DPAs, IP rights, liability
caps, and SLA frameworks.
• Serve as the senior escalation point for contractual, commercial, and operational risk
mitigation across global technology contracts.
• Ensure strict adherence to global procurement ethics, policy governance, and data
protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

4. Stakeholder & Relationship Management

• Build trusted-advisor relationships with VP tech stakeholders, , Enterprise Architects,
and Business Sourcing Partners across News Corp business units.
• Translate complex business and technology requirements into clear, executable sourcing
strategies.

5. Program Management & Continuous Improvement

• Manage the global software sourcing deal pipeline, ensuring predictable velocity, risk
visibility, and actionable reporting to executive leadership.
• Identify structural cost-reduction opportunities, eliminate redundant software spend, and
drive best-in-class sourcing transformation initiatives.

Candidate Qualifications & Critical Competencies

• Experience: Minimum 9-10 years of progressive IT Sourcing experience, with a core
focus on complex enterprise software, public cloud service providers, and
SaaS/PaaS/IaaS commercial structures.
• People Management: Minimum 2-3 years of demonstrated experience directly
managing, mentoring, and developing team members at the Analyst and Senior Analyst
levels.
• Domain & Technical Depth:
• Deep understanding of enterprise technology systems, software licensing
architectures, and cloud pricing mechanisms (e.g., uncommitted vs. committed
spend, BYOL, core-based vs. user-based metrics).
• Direct experience negotiating multi-million-dollar agreements with tier-1
technology vendors (e.g., Microsoft, Salesforce, Oracle, SAP, AWS, Google
Cloud, Snowflake).
• Legal & Privacy Acumen: Expert capability in partnering with legal/privacy counsel to
negotiate complex terms (DPAs, cross-border data transfers, liability/indemnification,
audit rights).
• Leadership & Drive: Proactive, go-getter mentality with a proven track record of solving
multi-faceted problems in a matrixed, global corporate structure.
• Communication & Influence: Exceptional written, verbal, and executive presentation
skills; adept at driving consensus among cross-functional global stakeholders.
• Education & Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT Engineering, Business, or Finance.
MBA preferred.
• Professional certifications (CPSM, CIPS, PMP, AWS/Azure Cloud Practitioner)
highly desirable.
