Job Description
The Monarch School and Institute is dedicated to providing an innovative, therapeutic education for individuals with neurological differences—such as those associated with autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit (hyperactivity) disorder, learning disabilities, Tourette syndrome, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, traumatic brain injury and seizure disorders. We offer a learner-centered approach that helps students progress in Four Core Goal areas. This candidate will work closely with the Therapeutic Leadership Team and Therapeutic Coaches in all matters.
The Monarch School is looking for Reading Specialists to focus on helping teachers and students improve their skills. This includes working with teachers serving students who may struggle with learning. Instruction may be delivered individually, pushed into the classroom, or in small groups to provide specialized instruction to support development.
Support does not replace classroom learning but supports what primary teachers teach. This includes serving students with learning difficulties including dyslexia, dysgraphia, and those living with intellectual disabilities who may be significantly below level in their skills. This person should have the ability to work in a high energy work environment with creative professionals and be able to adapt to a variety of situations.

Requirements:EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree
Teacher Certification/Special Education Preferred
Experience serving as Reading Specialist minimum 6 years
Experience serving individuals with neurological differences
Understanding of Unique Learning
DUTIES
While exact responsibilities may vary, common duties include:
· Evaluating students who may struggle with reading or writing.
· Creating lesson plans to improve literacy.
· Instructing individual students or small groups of students.
· Coaching students on techniques and skills to improve literacy.
· Supporting, supplementing, and extending classroom teaching.
· Supporting the implementation of a quality reading program.
· Conducting assessments to determine students' reading levels and learning needs.
· Collaborate with teachers to develop individualized reading goals and plans for students.
· Collaborating and modeling for classroom teachers to provide support and guidance in literacy instruction.
· Administering and or supporting teachers with DRA. (Beginning and End of Year) Staff Developer
· Conduct Action Research focusing on years of data.
· Support understanding and use of the library of leveled books/ readers.
· Administer and build lessons supporting the results of the DRA.
