We are looking for a Runner to join our team at our Sacramento Yard in California to actively supports field operations through pickup and delivery of small tools, traffic control items and construction materials. This position also assists in maintaining shop operations facilities, corporate facilities, and fuel facilities.
Position Summary
The Runner actively supports field operations through pickup and delivery of small tools, traffic control items, company vehicles and construction materials. The Runner also assists in maintaining shop operations facilities, corporate facilities, and fuel facilities. This position will offer the right individual an opportunity to gain knowledge and field exposure to the heavy civil construction industry. This role also has potential for advancement opportunities into field and other roles within the organization.
Schedule
- Shift – approximately 8 hours per day from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with ½ hour lunch break; 5 days/week.
- May have earlier start time or later end time depending on job needs. Usually 40 hours/week with occasional overtime availability.
- Occasional weekend availability.
Position Description
- As an employee of Goodfellow Bros. you must fully understand, embrace, and exemplify the Mission, Vision and Goodfellow Way, applying them all to every aspect of this position.
- Drive company vehicles, including but not limited to F-150 pick-up and larger trucks, for long distances and/or multiple hours in a safe manner.
- Follow procedures on inspection of returned equipment and completion of inspection reports.
- Assist to track company owned and rented equipment.
- Operate a forklift to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials.
- Assist with inventory of small tools, traffic control items and construction materials, informing manager when inventory levels fall below minimum quantities.
- Abide by all traffic rules and regulations and drive in a safe and cautious manner.
- Must be able to hitch trailer to truck when transporting equipment and supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
This position offers a pay rate of $20.00 to $22.00 hourly.

Required Education, Experience, and Technical Knowledge
- Candidates must have the legal right to work in the US without employer sponsorship.
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- Previous experience in construction work and driving a truck or an equivalent preferred.
- Must possess a valid CA driver’s license and clean DMV record.
- The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and to pull and apply rotation force on stationary and movable objects.
- Ability to communicate effectively both in written and verbal formats to promote positive relationships with employees, management and outside vendors.
