Job Description

Senior Engineering Manager, Data & Cloud Platform

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager, Data & Cloud Platform based in the United States.

This is a foundational leadership role within a rapidly scaling AI-driven engineering organization, responsible for building and evolving the data and cloud infrastructure that powers next-generation platform capabilities. You will sit at the core of the AI platform foundation, shaping how data is accessed, shared, governed, and operationalized across multiple product teams. The role blends hands-on engineering leadership with strategic platform ownership, requiring deep technical credibility and the ability to guide architecture across cloud, data, and AI systems. You will lead a growing team while actively contributing to production code and system design, ensuring scalable and reliable infrastructure for high-impact AI workloads. Working across engineering, product, and governance functions, you will define the standards and patterns that enable safe, efficient, and unified data usage across the organization. This is a high-visibility role where your work directly enables AI product innovation, platform scalability, and long-term technical direction.

Accountabilities:
  • Own and evolve the cloud and data foundation supporting AI platform teams, including shared runtime infrastructure, CI/CD systems, and platform services.
  • Design and implement a unified data access layer that enables consistent interaction with fragmented product data across the organization.
  • Define architecture for shared AI data systems, including agent memory, context storage, and cross-product data services.
  • Build and operate scalable data pipelines and transformation systems (ETL/ELT, lakehouse, and analytics workflows) supporting AI and platform workloads.
  • Establish platform engineering standards, reusable services, and reference architectures to reduce fragmentation across teams.
  • Partner with AI Quality, Security, and Governance teams to ensure privacy-aware, compliant, and safe data handling practices.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a small but expanding engineering team, balancing hands-on coding with technical leadership.
  • Drive long-term technical strategy across cloud, data infrastructure, scalability, cost efficiency, and system reliability.
Requirements

This role requires a strong combination of hands-on engineering expertise, platform architecture experience, and technical leadership. The ideal candidate has built and scaled shared infrastructure and data systems in complex, multi-team environments.

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership roles as a manager or technical lead.
  • Strong background in cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, or internal platform engineering.
  • Proven experience building and operating shared data systems (ETL/ELT pipelines, data platforms, warehouses, or lakehouse architectures).
  • Experience designing platform APIs or integration layers that unify fragmented systems and improve developer experience.
  • Hands-on exposure to production AI systems where data architecture impacts performance, reliability, or cost.
  • Experience working with agent memory, retrieval systems, semantic search, or LLM-optimized data architectures is highly valued.
  • Strong systems thinking with a bias toward hands-on execution and scalable platform design.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, evolving technical environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating across engineering, product, and governance stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Nice to have: multi-cloud experience, regulated industry exposure (e.g., legal tech or enterprise SaaS), and familiarity with access control and auditability constraints.
Benefits
  • Competitive base salary: $190,000 – $210,000 USD
  • Annual bonus eligibility and performance-based incentives
  • Equity participation opportunities (subject to plan eligibility)
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Unlimited PTO plus paid holidays and additional global wellness days
  • Paid parental leave and family support benefits
  • Life, disability, and income protection insurance
  • Flexible remote-first working model across the United States
  • Annual wellness, learning, and productivity allowances
  • Employee assistance and mental health support programs
  • Career development support including learning platforms and professional growth resources
  • Collaborative, globally distributed engineering culture with regular in-person offsites.
