Pay Grade: Grade 6
Starting Wage: $19.00 - $21.10
Gaming Class: Compact/Gaming

Position Summary:
A Surveillance Technician is responsible for the basic installation and maintenance of camera equipment used by the Surveillance Department. The Technician will assist in all major projects and installations. When a major problem arises with the digital system or supporting equipment the Technician will contact the Director of Surveillance for instructions or who to call for further assistance.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
The Surveillance Technician is responsible for the following duties:
- Install and maintain a Pelco surveillance system.
- Troubleshoot and repair current technical issues.
- Demonstrate knowledge of network protocols and security standards.
- Proficiently operate CCTV, IP cameras, and DVR systems.
- Receiving equipment, inspect parts for damage and ensure all parts received are in good working order, and then log the serial numbers and store parts in a secure area until they can be installed.
- Repair, replace, or return defective equipment.
- Keep record of all equipment under warranty.
- Move equipment as required, install temporary equipment as needed, and remain current with all equipment needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and the proper operation of equipment.
- Maintain a record of all repairs and cleaning completed on a piece-by-piece basis.
- Answer questions concerning equipment operation as needed.
- Offer input on what equipment is needed to perform wanted functions.

Qualifications – Education and Experience:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED (General Equivalency Diploma).
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be able to obtain a gaming license and maintain it.
- Knowledge of low voltage systems.
- Knowledge of digital video recorders.
- Knowledge of additional network storage.
- Must be able to program and troubleshoot a matrix system.
- Must possess knowledge of electrical wiring (coax, CAT6).
- Must work all shifts as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years previous CCTV repair experience.
- Possess knowledge in electronics and electrical precautions.
- Experience working with cameras and camera-related equipment.
- Ability to offer input on the best use of cameras and camera-related equipment.
- Manual dexterity, good eye/hand coordination, with self-discipline.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Strong computer skills.

The work environment is fast-paced and requires overall good mental and physical health.
Physical Demands:
Job-specific abilities and requirements include:
Ability to stand, sit, and/or walk for extended periods of time.
Ability to crouch, crawl, kneel, or work in confined spaces.
Ability to lift to 60 pounds.
Ability to endure harsh weather conditions (rain, cold, snow, smoke).
Ability to work on a ladder or lift, scaffolding or roof top, at heights up to sixty (60) feet.
Ability to operate heavy equipment.
20/20 vision or use of corrective lenses.
Ability to tolerate various scents, noises, and bright lights.
