What You’ll Do:
• Sanitation & Cleaning Operations: Clean and sanitize production floors, workstations, processing areas and equipment exteriors. Remove produce debris, waste, and foreign material from production and storage areas. Sweep, scrub, and squeegee water from floors to maintain a safe work environment. Clean drains, walls, floors, and other facility surfaces as assigned. Ensure sanitation standards are met before, during, and after production operations.
• Waste Removal & Material Handling: Collect and dispose of produce waste, trash, and recyclable materials. Lift, transport, and empty large waste bins and containers. Move sanitation supplies, cleaning tools, and equipment as needed. Assist with maintaining waste collection and disposal areas.
• Food Safety & Compliance: Follow all sanitation procedures, GMPs, food safety programs, and facility policies. Use cleaning chemicals safely and according to manufacturer and company guidelines. Ensure cleaning activities prevent cross-contamination and support food safety requirements. Report sanitation concerns, pest activity, equipment issues, or potential contamination risks immediately.
• Safety & PPE Compliance: Wear and maintain required PPE at all times. Follow established safety procedures for sanitation equipment and chemical handling. Maintain awareness of slip, trip, and fall hazards within production and warehouse areas. Participate in required safety and food safety training programs.
• Teamwork & Communication: Work collaboratively with Production, QA, Maintenance, and Warehouse teams. Assist with production readiness activities and pre-operational inspections. Support sanitation projects and special cleaning assignments as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
• Work performed in a cold (34–38°F), wet, and fast‑paced production environment.
• Frequent exposure to water, cleaning chemicals, produce waste, and sanitation equipment.
• Wet and slippery floors are common throughout production and warehouse areas.
• May be exposed to noise from processing equipment and production operations.
• Required to follow all PPE guidelines, which may include hairnets, beard nets, gloves, waterproof aprons, sleeves, safety glasses, and other protective equipment.
• Closed-toe, slip-resistant footwear is required at all times.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8–12 hour shifts).
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 60 pounds regularly.
• Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, and reaching.
• Ability to repeatedly sweep, scrub, squeegee, and remove standing water from floors.
• Ability to lift, move, and empty large waste bins and produce containers.
• Manual dexterity to operate cleaning equipment, hoses, brushes, and sanitation tools.
• Ability to work continuously in cold and wet conditions.
• Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods.
• Visual ability to identify cleanliness issues, hazards, and sanitation concerns.
