Job Description
Job Title: Nutritionist
Salary: $28 - $32 per hour (DOE)
Location: Tustin, CA
Openings: 1 Full-time
Position Purpose: The positions focus is on creating and supporting an environment that fosters optimal patient, family, and overall community health achieved through nutrition counseling. Guides individuals in achieving a balanced diet, proper nutrition, and healthy eating habits. Assess clients’ eating habits, develop personalized nutrition plans, and educate individuals about the relationship between food and health. Under the leadership of the Patient Support Services Director, along with a dynamic team and organizational structure comprised of various other support service areas. This position requires a passion and commitment to meeting the health needs of the diverse clients of Families Together of Orange County.

Core Duties and responsibilities, include but are not limited to:
- Evaluating a client’s nutritional needs via an intake interview
- Providing nutritional counseling and advice based on clients’ needs
- Creating a nutrition treatment plan for a client
- Educating the client on possible nutrition issues
- Researching the effects of nutrition on health and fitness
- Consulting with a team of health care practitioners on nutritional management for a client
- Creating a nutrition lesson plan for group medical visits
- Leading group nutrition classes
- Creating cooking class lesson plans for group medical visits
- Shopping and preparing for group cooking classes
- Leading group cooking classes
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidentiality by completing and safeguarding medical records and other patient information
- Accurately records patient information, measurement data, procedure documentation, and test results in the electronic medical record, securing the workstation when finished
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt
- Participates in quality management program
- Performs office procedures to schedule, check in, and process patients during a nutritional visit
- Performs Start of Day and End of Day procedures, as assigned
- Performs other tasks for which training has been provided, as assigned

Education, Qualifications, and Experience:
- Completion of a certified Nutritionist training program
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Must work well in multicultural teams and diverse constituencies
- Be self-motivated and highly organized with the ability to effectively work under pressure
- Use independent judgment and produce a quality of work product
Work Schedule:
- FTOC is an in-person organization first, and foremost. Employees are expected to be on-site for their scheduled shifts.
- Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., however, employee schedules vary, depending on organizational, staffing, community, and patient needs. As such, FTOC may need to modify work schedules to meet such needs.
- Holidays and weekends may be required depending on an employee’s department due to organizational, staffing, community, and patient needs as FTOC continues to grow and expand work days and hours.
- Overtime may also occur due to organizational, staffing, community, and patient needs.
Work Location:
- While employees may be assigned a primary site (Tustin, Garden Grove, Fountain Valley, Wellness Center, Mobile Units, Treehaven, Magnolia, Telehealth, etc.), employees may be required to temporarily fill in at another site based on organizational, staffing, community, and patient needs.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional travel will be required. Employees must be able to travel to FTOC sites as needed, including with short notice.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to drive to FTOC facilities as needed. The ability to sit for extended periods of time, and the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
