Job Summary:

Clinical supervision is an interpersonal relationship centered on developing skills and professional growth via learning and practicing. Through observation, evaluation, and feedback, supervision assuring that adequate staffing levels are being maintained clinically, ethically, and legally. Clinical supervision ensures that clinical files are being maintained according to company policy, CARF standards, and state and federal regulations.

The clinical supervisor will demonstrate strength and positive teamwork, educate, and develop techniques that allow integrated patient centered care and strive to provide the highest level of compassion.


As part of UCS Healthcare, team members will follow all laws and regulations, including those at the Federal, State, and Local level. They will also adhere to all UCS policies and procedures, including patient confidentiality, HIPAA/ 42CFR part 2, and all CARF requirements. All team members will operate in alignment with UCS Healthcare’s core values, work effectively in a team environment, provide or support patient-centered services, and strive to assist UCS Healthcare in delivering the highest level of care.

Essential Functions (95%):

Clinical Work

Oversees and develops daily workflows of the department.Has the ability to complete assessments within scope of license, provide both individual and group sessions as required and maintain own caseload in accordance with assigned duties.Provides observation to direct reports of both individual and group sessions at regular intervals.
Coordinate delivery of treatment modalities.Ensures that Evidence Based Practices (EBP) are being successfully integrated into groups and counseling sessions by training, and monitoring counselors through observed supervision.

Documentation

Maintain and document data on clients served in a well-organized fashion.Identifies quality assurance and risk management issues and brings them to the attention of the Clinical Director.Monitors the use of resources to determine when there is a need for additional staff and brings requests to Clinical Director.Receive, evaluate, and implement assessments from referring agencies and perform assessments as needed.

Communication/Ethics

Consults with and supports clinical staff in both individual and group supervision focusing on counselor ability to perform their jobs appropriately with the welfare of clients in mind and ensures the integrity of clinical services.Follow all Federal, State of Iowa, and agency policies and laws, including those pertaining to patient confidentiality, including HIPAA/ 42CFR part 2 and CARF requirements.Updates employees on new and amended government regulations and changes in health insurance and requirements of Value Based Care.Helps strengthen communication among employees in a clinical environment.Familiar with the Code of Ethics for each staff member on the clinical team based on their credential and license board.

Team Management and Development

Provide direct supervision, guidance, and performance management to direct reportsAssist with training and onboarding of team members, using effective techniques to promote team development.Create goal setting and cascading annual goals for team members.Responsible for interviewing and selection of team members Effectively delegate to accomplish goals and to build team members’ capability and confidence.Coach and mentor team members; receive and provide feedback in a constructive way that builds confidence within the team; address performance issues as needed in a timely manner.Completion and maintenance of required recordkeeping including but not limited to applicant tracking, onboarding, supervisions, and annual reviews.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree and 5 years of having a full CADC. Four years’ experience in Human Services or related field.Productive supervisory and leadership skills.Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate when appropriate.Ability to regulate in a fast paced, potentially high stress environment.Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.Must have superior problem solving and decision-making skills as well as strong analytical skills.Must be a talented and effective team builder.Excel in management and leadership skills.Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills.Must have standard computer skills.Must have strong negotiation and persuasion skills.Must have the ability to execute fair and sound judgment.

Preferred Knowledge, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

Master’s degree in behavioral health or related field. Five years’ experience in Human Services or related field.IADC by the State of Iowa.

Physical Requirements:

Must be accessible by phone or email regularly to address operational needsCommunicating with others to exchange information. Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer.A valid driver's license is required and liability insurance or an equivalent means of reliable personal transportation and coverage as travel within the state of Iowa may be necessary.

This is a full-time, salaried position. Work hours will generally correspond with regular program operating hours; however, the Clinical Supervisor is expected to maintain flexibility and work the hours necessary to meet program needs, ensure appropriate clinical oversight, and support staff and client care. Flexibility and coverage responsibilities are shared among the supervisor team to ensure consistent leadership support and program continuity.
