1. Position Summary:

Administer Physical Therapy and treatment under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.

1. Position Relationships:

A. Responsible to: Director of PM&R and Physical Therapist

B. Workers Supervised: None

C. Interrelationships: Patients and their families, physicians and

nurses, departmental and hospital personnel.

1. Responsibilities and Authorities:

A. Overall:

Responsible for treating patients using Physical Therapy procedures and techniques within recognized standards, under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.

1. Work Performed:

1. Performs other duties as assigned by the department's management staff.

1. As patient care and/or Hospital need dictates, both the assigned shift and work station may be changed by the department.

1. Administers Physical Therapy treatment to patients.

1. Completes medical documentation in an accurate and timely manner, consistent with rules and regulations.

1. Supervises and delegates appropriately to Therapy Aides.

1. Attends hospital meetings and committee work as assigned.

1. Participates in rotating to necessary areas, setting will include but not limited to outpatient, wound care, rehab, acute care, and sports medicine, to provide treatment coverage to patients where needed.

1. Qualifications:

A. Education:

Currently licensed as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the State of Texas. Current BLS Certification through American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.

C. Job Knowledge:

Knowledge of procedures and treatments in Physical Therapy with an emphasis on total patient care. Must have understanding of basic supervision.
