Position Overview

The Revenue Cycle Finance Liaison serves as the primary bridge between the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) and Finance/Accounting teams. This role is responsible for ensuring revenue cycle-related financial activity is accurately recorded, reconciled, and reflected in the organization's financial reporting.

The Revenue Cycle Finance Liaison serves as the primary point of contact for finance-related RCM questions and works closely with billing, collections, cash posting, and accounting teams to investigate discrepancies, validate transactions, and improve the accuracy and integrity of revenue-related financial reporting.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of skilled nursing facility revenue cycle operations, payer reimbursement, cash posting, contractual adjustments, revenue adjustments, and accounts receivable reconciliation.

Duties:

· Serve as the primary liaison between Revenue Cycle Management and Finance/Accounting for revenue cycle-related financial matters.

· Serve as the first point of contact for finance-related RCM questions and ensure inquiries are researched and resolved accurately and timely.

· Review and reconcile non-AR cash transactions to ensure appropriate general ledger coding and accurate financial reporting.

· Review revenue adjustments to validate accuracy, appropriateness, and proper recording.

· Review payer payments, postings, and adjustments to ensure they align with contractual expectations and internal policies.

· Partner with Finance to investigate and resolve discrepancies involving cash, revenue, accounts receivable, and general ledger activity.

· Support month-end close by validating revenue-related transactions and completing required reconciliation activities.

· Complete the prior month's required revenue cycle financial review by the 10th of each month.

· Work closely with billing, collections, cash posting, and accounting teams to resolve financial discrepancies and improve processes.

· Analyze revenue cycle financial activity to identify errors, trends, and areas requiring further investigation.

· Identify and recommend process improvements related to revenue recognition, cash application, reconciliation, and financial reporting.

· Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and explanations related to revenue cycle financial activity.

· Maintain clear documentation of reconciliations, identified discrepancies, resolutions, and recurring issues.

· Escalate material discrepancies or unresolved issues to appropriate Revenue Cycle and Finance leadership.

· Meet deadlines and delivery commitments as agreed upon with management and proactively communicate risks or barriers that may impact timely completion.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

· Revenue Cycle Expertise: Strong understanding of healthcare revenue cycle processes, reimbursement, billing, collections, cash posting, and accounts receivable.

· Financial Reconciliation: Ability to reconcile financial activity, investigate discrepancies, and validate the accuracy of transactions.

· Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze detailed financial and operational information, identify trends and inconsistencies, and determine appropriate next steps.

· Attention to Detail: Consistently demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness when reviewing financial transactions and supporting documentation.

· Problem Solving: Ability to identify root causes and work across departments to drive issues through resolution.

· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to effectively bridge Revenue Cycle and Finance and build strong working relationships across teams.

· Accountability: Takes ownership of assigned reconciliations, inquiries, deadlines, and follow-up through completion.

· Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain financial and revenue cycle matters to operational and financial stakeholders.

Requirements:

· Minimum of 2 years of Revenue Cycle Management experience, preferably within Skilled Nursing, Long-Term Care, or a related healthcare environment.

· Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, commercial insurance, and payer reimbursement methodologies.

· Knowledge of cash posting, payment application, revenue adjustments, contractual adjustments, and accounts receivable reconciliation.

· Experience investigating and reconciling discrepancies between revenue cycle activity and financial reporting.

· Experience supporting month-end financial or revenue reconciliation processes.

· Experience with NCS strongly preferred.

· Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to work with detailed financial and operational data.

· Ability to communicate effectively with both operational and Finance leadership.

Success Measures:

· Accurate and timely reconciliation of non-AR cash.

· Completion of the prior month's required review by the 10th of each month.

· Timely investigation and resolution of Finance/RCM inquiries.

· Reduction in unexplained or incorrect revenue adjustments and reconciliation discrepancies.

· Improved accuracy and integrity of revenue-related financial reporting.

· Effective collaboration between Revenue Cycle and Finance.

· Identification and implementation of process improvements that strengthen financial controls and operational efficiency.
