About the Role:

The Utilities Manager plays a critical role in overseeing and optimizing all utility operations within a manufacturing facility to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant production processes. This position is responsible for managing water treatment, wastewater treatment, air quality control, and plant maintenance systems to support uninterrupted manufacturing activities. The Utilities Manager leads a team of technicians and engineers, coordinating maintenance schedules, upgrades, and compliance with environmental regulations. They collaborate closely with construction management and facilities teams to implement infrastructure improvements and ensure operational reliability. Ultimately, this role ensures that all utility systems operate at peak performance, minimizing downtime and environmental impact while supporting the company’s manufacturing goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing utility operations in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proven knowledge of water treatment, wastewater treatment, air quality control, and plant maintenance.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and compliance requirements related to air and water quality.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee daily operations of water treatment, wastewater treatment, and air pollution control systems to maintain compliance with environmental standards.
  • Supervise plant maintenance activities related to pumps, facilities, and utility infrastructure to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
  • Coordinate with construction management teams to plan and execute utility system upgrades and expansions within the manufacturing plant.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs and emergency response plans for all utility systems.
  • Monitor water quality and air quality metrics, analyze data, and prepare reports for regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead, train, and mentor utility operations staff to maintain high performance and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize utility usage, reduce costs, and support sustainable manufacturing practices.

The Utilities Manager utilizes their expertise in air quality and water treatment daily to ensure all systems meet regulatory standards and operate efficiently. Skills in wastewater treatment and plant maintenance are essential for troubleshooting and optimizing utility infrastructure to prevent production disruptions.
