The UNM Evaluation Lab is seeking an adaptable, detail-oriented, and emotionally intelligent Evaluation Lab Team Lead to join our team on an On-Call basis. This position is designated as on-call and will work on an as-needed basis. Hours may vary depending on project demands, with an average expectation of 15 to 20 hours per week.

The Team Lead serves a dual role as an evaluation project lead and an academic mentor. In this capacity, the successful candidate will guide applied, community-engaged evaluation projects, support graduate student learning, and oversee the production of high-quality evaluation deliverables.

This position works closely with a wide array of stakeholders, including community non-profit organizations, UNM entities, government agencies, graduate students, and faculty. The ideal candidate will foster an environment centered on psychological safety, relational coordination, and collaborative problem-solving across all client and student engagements.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Evaluation Oversight & Quality Assurance: Directs and oversees applied evaluation projects to ensure all deliverables meet high standards of methodological rigor, clarity, and practical utility for partner organizations.
  2. Student Mentorship & Instruction: Mentors and guides graduate students through the end-to-end evaluation process. Provides technical guidance, supports applied skill development, and delivers lectures or presentations on specialized evaluation topics as needed.
  3. Project Management & Stakeholder Facilitation: Plans and facilitates regular meetings between graduate student teams and client organizations. Manages project timelines, scope, and communication channels among non-profits, government entities, and UNM stakeholders.
  4. Lab Collaboration & Team Participation: Serves as an active member of the UNM Evaluation Lab team. Attends and contributes to regular Team Lead meetings, peer consultations, and lab-wide strategic discussions.
  5. Miscellaneous Duties: Performs related duties as assigned to support the operational goals of the Evaluation Lab.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Additional health screenings may be required, dependent on the nature of the research conducted, as determined by Employee Occupational Health Services.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Master's degree
  • Experience: At least three (3) years of directly related professional experience conducting program evaluations or applied social research.
  • Teaching & Facilitation Experience: Demonstrated background in teaching, lecturing, or facilitating applied learning in program evaluation or research methods at university level.
  • Non-Profit & Public Sector Engagement: Proven track record of working collaboratively with community non-profits, state or local government agencies, and university stakeholders.
  • Relational & Adaptive Leadership: Strong emotional intelligence, with demonstrated ability to cultivate psychological safety for student learners and maintain high relational coordination across multi-stakeholder teams.
  • Project Management Skills: Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with experience managing multiple project timelines and student-led deliverables concurrently.
