Staff Accountant II – Commissions

Location: Lincoln West Mall Breckenridge, CO

Position Type: Full-time Non-Exempt

Compensation: $24.25 - $27.88 /hr. (DOE)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, standard business hours with flexibility

In this key role within our Controller’s department, you will ensure our sales professionals are accurately and timely compensated, directly supporting the rewarding careers that make our grand vacations possible. By meticulously managing commission payments, reconciling accounts, and contributing to our month-end close, you help maintain the financial integrity that allows us to create smile-filled experiences for our Owners and Guests. Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process bi-monthly sales agent commission payments, including creating detailed commission Totals, Agent Commission, and Commission Summary workbooks.
  • Collaborate with leadership across Accounting, Data Analytics, and Sales for approvals and stay current on pricing changes, concessions, and deductions.
  • Print commission checks, prepare ACH batches, and compile backup documentation for distribution.
  • Process additional incentive payments such as inventory bonuses, volume bonuses, and guest member pay.
  • Track, manage, and release sales broker holdbacks after the reversion period.
  • Reconcile multiple operating bank accounts for each company property.
  • Reconcile all payroll and medical claims accounts, working with HR to resolve issues.
  • Reconcile credit card depository accounts, coordinating with Internal Audit.
  • Reconcile the Sales Escrow cash account with the Escrow Accountant.
  • Reconcile the Construction operating account and assist with various new and ongoing project reconciliations.
  • Prepare a wide variety of monthly journal entries, including for:
  • Financing activity and accrued interest on loans.
  • Bank interest income and sweep transfers. Restaurant rent and intercompany interest.
  • Construction check runs and reward dollar transactions. Wire transfers and various reconciliation adjustments.
  • Mentor peers and assist in training new staff members.
  • Proactively identify, develop, and implement process improvements.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities and take initiative on department-level projects.
  • Uphold company core standards, maintain positive working relationships, and provide exceptional internal customer service.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a directly related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting roles.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, etc.), with at least 2 years of hands-on experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Solid grasp of mathematical concepts including fractions, percentages, and basic algebra to calculate commissions, interest, and discounts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to interpret business correspondence and speak effectively with management and peers.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness in all tasks.
  • Proven ability to work independently on complex tasks and take initiative without constant supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience calculating, processing, and reconciling sales commissions or incentive payments is a significant plus.
  • Candidates who demonstrate experience equivalent to a "Staff Level III" or senior accountant, including:
  • Experience mentoring other accounting staff or leading training sessions.
  • A proven track record of identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Experience taking on department-level initiatives and additional responsibilities.
  • Experience with specific accounting ERP systems, ACH processing platforms, or advanced Excel macros is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and a proactive approach to problem-solving and project management
