PURPOSE OF JOB:

This position is responsible for operating a profitable and efficient Parts department. The Parts Manager will accomplish objectives through proper purchasing procedures, inventory control, staff utilization, security, pricing, merchandising, displaying and advertising. The Parts Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to ensure business growth within the department.

JOB DUTIES:

  1. Operations
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Parts department.
  • Daily Monitoring of sales performance by all Parts Counter associates in relation to forecast by utilizing Daily Tracking Tools.
  • Daily Monitoring and tracking of ASR parts availability and lost sales.
  • Provide disciplined Inventory management to achieve maximum results.
  • Monitor out of line Asset Management conditions related to the Parts Dept. i.e.: Open Parts Tickets, Parts Days’ Supply, Parts Obsolescence, Special Order Parts, Parts Receivables, Parts Returned Checks etc. and provide problem resolution through disciplined action plans.
  • Monitor the parts inventory and anticipate parts needs considering future promotions, new model years, trends and suggested stock orders.
  • Monitor daily General Motors and Subaru Parts sales loyalty through PASE and Partseye tools.
  • Ensure the security of inventory in all locations.
  • Analyze the quality of parts including reducing obsolescence.
  • Work with retail and wholesale customers in considering credit applications, handling complaints and negotiating prices to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • In cooperation with the retail facility’s leadership, review the previous month’s sales/profit performance to analyze and make recommendations where improvements can be made.
  • Develop and implement a business growth plan. Generate additional parts sales and gross profits by acquiring new business accounts.
  • Maintain a clean and organized Parts department.

2. Administrative

  • Maintain reporting systems to store management and to the manufacturer.
  • Protect customer privacy by complying with all directives of company Information Security Program.
  • Work with all Parts Dept. associates to ensure that daily instruction & formal training is adequate to prepare all associates for successful completion of individual job objectives.
  • Counsel Service Dept associates in areas of deficiency within their area of performance.
  • Confer with General Manager and the Controller on plans, financial results and areas of concern.
  • Monitor annual parts inventory and balance to the financial statement.

3. General

  • Ensure prompt and regular attendance.
  • Perform other appropriate duties as may be assigned by Management.
  • Travel as business needs may require.

4. Management & People Development

  • Effectively build, manage, and develop talent to support a performance culture within the department.
  • Closely manage employees, utilizing 1-on-1 meetings and Subject & Action (S&A) accountability standards.
  • Conduct timely performance appraisals for employees. Ensure timely submission and monitoring of annual business plan goals for yourself and your direct reports.
  • Ensure team members achieve minimum annual training requirements, as appropriate.

5. Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Personally commit to quality in all aspects of work.
  • Provide “World Class Customer Service” for internal and external customers.
  • Participate in and promote the established Quality Improvement Process (QIP) for continuous improvement.
  • Participate on teams to research, measure, and correct problems and to strive for process improvement.
  • Communicate and exemplify the Company’s Mission Statement, Vision Statement, Values, and Philosophy.
  • Attend at least ten (10) credit hours of training annually to continue development of work-related skills.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education:
  • High school diploma/equivalent is minimally required.

2. Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in an automotive or a related parts field is required.
  • 2+ years of prior supervisory experience is required.

3. Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies:

  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Knowledge of automobiles, parts, and their operations is a plus.
  • Must possess organizational skills and be detail oriented.
  • Must be able to lift 70 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to work on, travel over, and carry and move parts across concrete floors and up and down stairs for several hours at a time.
  • Must not have any restrictions that would prevent working in a garage environment with reasonable accommodation.
  • Must possess and continuously maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
