Position Summary
The Business & IndustrialTechnologies Division at UNM-Valencia Campus is accepting applications for a Lecturer I or II in the Trades, to include but not limited to welding,construction, plumbing, HVACR and electrical. This posting is for a full-time,9-month, non-tenure-track faculty position. The position begins January 11,2027.
Located about 30 miles south ofAlbuquerque in rural Valencia County, the University of New Mexico-ValenciaCampus is a two-year branch community college associated with the University ofNew Mexico. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offersvocational and technical courses as well as academic transfer courses to thecitizens of Valencia and northern Socorro counties. The faculty and staff servea student body of approximately 2,000 each semester.
Salary: Base salary for this nine-month faculty position is$63,000. Summer teaching may be availablebased on program needs, with additional compensation. Office space, computerhardware and software will be provided, as well as an excellent package ofbenefits.
Summary ofduties and responsibilities: Duties include providing classroom and hands-on laboratoryinstruction in trades-related courses offered through the Business &Industrial Technologies Division. This includes but is not limited to preparingcourse materials, supervising laboratory activities, maintaining a safe andorganized learning environment, assessing student performance, and maintainingattendance, scholastic, and student records. Responsibilities also includeposting and maintaining office hours, participating in curriculum developmentand outcomes assessment, professional development related to the teachingfield, college committees, departmental projects, community and industrypartnerships, and other duties as assigned. The position may include daytimeand/or evening instruction at UNM-Valencia facilities and partner locations.
If selected for an on-campusinterview, applicants may be asked to provide a teaching demonstration relatedto their trade area and documentation of professional experience, licenses,certifications, or credentials.
We will offer reimbursement for travel expenses to all candidates whoare invited to UNM Valencia campus, who accept the offer of an interview, andwho must incur long-distance travel expenses. The reimbursement for travel willfollow UNM policy and will be no more than $1,000.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree in a career field or industry credentials in a career technical field or ten years of tested experience in an industry or technical field (as per Higher Learning Commission tested experience guidelines)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelors degree in a career technical field
- Teaching experience in a career technical field
- Experience working with business and industry partners
- Experience across multiple trade areas or ability to teach more than one program area.
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
